Mr. Hartley was born on May 12, 1887, in Fairview a son of Caleb T. and Christena Peterson Hartley. He married Maude A. Mower on February 21, 1912 in Manti. The marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. Mr. Hartley raised livestock and was a noted blacksmith until his retirement.
