Main. The speaker will be the book's author, Edgar A. DeMiller, retired military man and instructor at Brigham Young University. His military experiences took him to Europe and the Orient covering 15 countries where he met manypeople from different racial, cultural, and economic backgrounds. Upon his retirement from active service he concluded that people of all nations and races are much the same; that there are good and bad in all of them and that most individuals sincerely desire to be good but do not always know how. The purpose of the new council is to cement relations between theyouthofthe city an¢ those working to make a better community. The council will help to solve civic problems pertaining to youth. Members are Jim Brock, president, Bryan Hardman, Parry Bratt, Chad Murdock, Jent Roberts and Craig Hreinson, It was reported that the police department had urged that the City Council more strongly emphasize adherence to city ordinances so that the police in the city may do the job they are hired to do. It was also brought out that city police officers are frequently called to help out in Lindon and should be reimbursed. The council decided to study the matter further before making a decision. A groupofcitizens inquired if the city had an ordinance restricting the type of homes being built in different parts of the city. The council stated that there is no ordinance now, but that the type of homes may be regulated in certain zones. Representative of the Utah County Zoning Carl Johnson, along with Boyd Seely, Grant Atwood and Fred Lutjen, representing the Pleasant Grove City Zoning Commission, discussed a proposed Utah County Zoning Area, They displayed a mapof Utah County Zoning and stated that decisions will be made at the Utah County government meeting to be held early in December. It was reported that Glen Enke, structural engineer, had given an estimate of costs for rodeo bleachers and roof at $60 per seat for a steel or concrete structure. A decision was delayed pending further study.
