Amongthose aged 35 to 49, the percentage is almost as high— 82%.But sexual activity dropsoff after age 50: Amongthose 50to 64 years old, 58% are sexually active: amongthose 65 and older, only 28% are active. Sevenin 10 ofthose sur- veyed say theyuse birth control, with unmarried respon- dents (80%) morelikely to use contraceptivesthan martied ones (69%). Single respondents who have never married are mostlikely to use condomsandpractice safe sex (58%). The birth-control pill is the contraceptive of choice for 17%, andthe condomalso is used by 17%. But the most popular option is sterilization—chosenby 29% overall (and by 36% of the married respondents). Ourmental health. More than eight in 10 respondents (85%) describe their mental health as “excellent” or “good.” Yet anxiety and depressionare not uncommon: 18% report that they often| suffer from anxiety, while 14% saythey've suffered from depressionin thelast year.
