The office of the Deserct Farmer was favored last week by a visit from S Dr. William MVicdonald who is Edi tor of the Transvaal Agricultural J Journal, and who is connected with the Department of Agriculture . t Prclor'a, South Africa. . Dr.' Macdon-ald Macdon-ald was in Utah with a view of studying study-ing dry farming conditions here. This is his first visit to this country. He attended the third session of the Dry Farming Congress at Cheyenne, and since that time has been travel-Img travel-Img through the East, spending some weeks at Washington. While hero he visited the. State Experimental farm at Ncphi, and also spent a few days in Cache valley visiting the dry ' farms in that vicinity and" spending aomc hours with the Agricultural College Col-lege people. Dr. Macdona'd was do-lighted do-lighted with his visit to Utah and expressed ex-pressed himself as highly pleased with the conditions found here, lie had been much interested in reading the dry farming bulletins published by our State station, and has -an accurate idea as to how this awakening interest inter-est in dry farming in this countrv came about.
