Although the loss figure so far is high, we have had only about 200 people report to us so far. We estimate that a minimum of 500 households suffered damage, and we would like ro receive reports from all of them, Griffeth stated. Ver-No- A damage assessment report form was given to those who applied for federal aid at Farmington Junior High School. The same form is also available at each city office building and from flood volunteer leaders throughout each disaster area. Any person who suffered any kind of loss from flood, mud, equipment, or workers to home, yard, business, orchard or farm should inform Human Services by mailing a completed questionnaire or phoning the infor- mation to 451-335- ful. Nearly $640,000 in damages to homes has been totaled so far with $370,000 to yards. When personal possessions are included, the sum for Stone Creek 5. The final report, which will also include estimates of damage to public property and the value of thousands of hours donated by volunteers, should benefit city and county governments in planning for future disaster control, and will help the state legislature as it seeks input from the county concerning the destruction. The cost of preventive measures may be weighed against the potential damage if the measures are not taken. The report is $1,418,929. . The second area of major impact is Rudd Creek in Farming-to- n where the loss totals $1,195,502. With only 28 resi- dents reporting to date, the average loss is over $42,000 as compared with an average loss of about $18,500 on Stone Creek. Human Services is also in receiving estimates from businesses, according to Griffeth. While few suffered material damage, many have experienced loss of business as they were inaccessible to patrons. Such losses should also be reported. One business has reported $246,000 in damages with can graphically demonstrate the value of doing whatever is necessary to prepare for another threat to property in Davis County. As the figures mount up, it is obvious that the cost of being unprepared is high. Seventy-siresidents have reported damage from Stone Creek in Bounti several others listing lesser amounts. plantings washed out with water receding too late for replanting. While we hope people will call or mail their assessment report to us, says Griffeth, we are planning to phone individuals we know received dam-.agif they dont get in touch with us. In some cases the department may send a representative to collect the data. e However, a concern is that some individuals may have been displaced by the floods and, therefore, be inaccessible to the department. These we just have to hope will contact us," Griffeth said. While compiling a complete report is a mammoth task, Griffeth believes people will respond in the same spirit that prompted them to help each Farmers should estimate damage to farmlands and crop x losses.
