Club a challenge to be Knights for the blind years ago, and the Lions of Bountiful are meeting that challenge today. The Bountiful Club gave $4,200, or $1 per member, to the Lions Foundation, one of the main funding entities behind the Utah Eye Bank. Besides funds given by the club as a group, Auditions Planned For Lagoon Play Auditions FARMINGTON for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Lagoon Opera House will be held on Saturday, March 12, at the University of Utah Union, Ljittle Theatre from 2 until 6 p.m. Interested singers and dancers will be required to sing one song of their choice, and be prepared to do some dance movement. An accompanist will be provided. Joseph... will run from June 17 through August 27, Wednesdays through Saturdays at Lagoon. Rehearsals will begin May 16. This production of the current Broadway smash hit. musical will be directed by David Dean, who directed last seasons production of Dames at Sea. Jeffrey Price will serve as musical director and Robert Hyde Wilson will serve as university advisor. All parts are open with the exception of the narrator, which has been cast. one individual gave $10,000 over the last two years, and others have given $1000 each. Mary Jane Davis, executive director of the eye bank, says that money donated by Bountiful members goes into the Lions Foundation fund to pay for medical equipment and supplies and office expenses. There are 83 eye banks around the world and Lions donate time to aiding in the transport of eyes to and from these banks. Ms. Davis said that the eyes are used' for cornea transplants. Keratoconus is a common of the cornea and is hereditary and found among many Utahns. She explained that there are 30,000 Americans who could be helped by cornea transplant, but there are waiting lists for donors. . Eyes cannot be used after 48 to 72 hours after being removed dis-ea- se NOW OPEN from donors and so they are used as soon as they come in. She stressed that eyes are strictly donated, and the eye bank does not pay for them. March has been proclaimed National Eye Donor Month, in hopes that more people will be made aware of the need for donors. Expanding the ways by which they meet the challenge, the Lions of Bountiful have provided five needy school children with eye examinations and glases within the last four to five months. The day is set aside for prayer for the world and every year a different region writes the program to be used in observances around the world.
