Shortly after his birth, the family moved to Sterling where he grew up with his finds, down the creekbottom, ... up the lake and downtown. Lucien was active in the scouts and church as a youth, and developed a love for those things of a theatrical nature from the road shows and church programs he was involved in at Sterling. This love con- tinued throughout his life. Like so many young people who grew up in the depression era, he fostered strong values of family, home and austerity. Along with his school chums, he answered the call to arms in World War II, serving under General MacArthur in the Pacific Theater in the Philippine Islands and later in Japan. He returned to the family farm following the war and on August 3, 1948, he married Dona Sorensen of Centerfield. That marriage was later solemnized on February 22, 1957. After selling the farm in the he worked at several jobs in the local area. In 1972 he began assisting his wife working for the ULCC in Manti. In 992, he began operating the Mayfield Mercans, 1 tile, along with the family, and made many friends during his four years there. His home of 51 years was his castle and he was constantly working in his yard with flowers and gardens, and painting whatever he felt needed a fresh coat. Along with his wife Dona, they played for 37 years all over the state in the old Footwarmers orchestra. The two of them also performed compassionate work for those in sorrow by singing at hundreds and hundreds of funerals over the years. Music was a major part of his life.
