| Show IN SWEDEN Got henburg sweden may 13 1898 conference was held here in gothen burg saturday sunday and monday april may and 2nd and all meetings were well attended and notwithstanding the large first of may celebration which was held here a large crowd was present on sunday afternoon the following subjects were spoken upon Is revelation from god a necessity in our age what is meant by being born anew can we be saved by faith alone president N C lund of the scandinavian mission and his successor elder george christensen Christen aen and president H M pearson of the gothenburg gothenberg Got henburg conference were the speakers A large public hall was hired for the occasion our other meb meetings tings were held at our hall on Heus Heps argatan 46 49 and d owing to the hall not being very 1 large arge we were unable to accommodate all who came excellent reports were given by the elders from the vari various outs branches all of which proved that a good winter work had been done the prospect for the summer was reported as being better than it has been for a long time hundreds of honest souls are investigating the gospel which we hope in the near future will become united with the saint batata of god during the winter months thirty four have been baptized and had it not been for unfavorable weather the number would have been larger an interesting priesthood meeting wa was held some good advice vic and instructions were given by presidents N C lund and george christensen the whole conference was a time of rejoicing to us all and the good d spirit that we e all partook of seemed to give us more strength and od courage urage president M H Per soB was released from his labors in this confer ence with permission to go home to zi alon on having filled an honorable mission As an a token of the friendship 0 C the saints they presented him with Q a beautiful ful at card receiver find and an aft album containing views of Got henburg elder john W larson was appointed as president of the gothenburg gothenberg Got henburg conference and under his direction we hope everything will progress as it has done before k twenty one elders are at present laboring in this conference and if they could only be obtained there would be room for several more the labor is great but the laborers are few the golden words of life and salvation must N be sounded all over and here in sweden are many honest souls in whose hearts these words will be received with pleasure P I 1 we have also held two english schools in this conference one in Norr koping and one tn in gothenburg gothenberg Got henburg the former was conducted by elder john johnson and the latter by myself good progress has been made in teaching the english language which will be of great value to those who sooner or later will emigrate to zion several non have also attended and in this way lots of the prejudice against us has been changed to friendship this conference covers ja ft large area and some of the branches axe are of an extensive size the elders are required te tc do lotsof lots of walking to walk twenty miles a day and spread tracts along the road is of common occurrence the young men at home who some day expect to fill a mission mission in sweden should take special exercise in wal walking kirg as it will of value to to them when they arrive in the missionary field I 1 have been laboring here in gothen burg now for over eight months and it has been a very pleasurable for roe me although sickness aas has prevented me from doing what I 1 should like to have done during the time I 1 have been here yet I 1 am thankful to god for his goodness towards me spring has now made its appearance here in sweden and everything is 41 commencing om to look green and beautiful the elders were assigned to the following fields gottenburg gothenburg Got Vot henburg john W lawson john E groberg and louis E erickson Tro ilhattan wm anderson and ole peter S olson and isaac peterson andrew anderson anderso ri john johnson and chas F carlson bringaker rIn gaker fred peterson G A anderson and julius E ertckson erickson halmstad adolt adolf E elggren and R w V larson axel holmgren and david blomquist Blomqu lart Wester john P lefgren and aaron lundberg saints having relatives ivea or friends in any ot of these branches will please send their addresses to the presidents office offic e Hus Hua argatan 46 gothenburg gothenberg Got henburg your brother in the gospel JNO E GROBERG |
