| Show WORK IN WISCONSIN OSHKOSH wis april arst 1897 we take pleasure in submitting to you a brief report of the wisconsin conference of the northern states mission beld in the city ot of oshkosh on the lyth sled nd letb of april 1897 in good tem lar ball elder lewis A kelsch president oi of the northern states mission and elder lohn john J simmons president of the wis cossin conference were present as were elders aders F P M dayton hyrum christen ow john E boice andrew larsen I 1 W merrill E W croft R M lynn and B S rupp three meetings were held each day and were fairly well attended much interest was manifested by those present the first principles of the gospel were taken up in their proper order by the following named brethren elders 1 W merrill and andrew larsen took the principle of faith and handled it to the satisfaction of those present elders Elder john sJohn E boice and E W croft followed upon repentance which was very beautifully portrayed then came baptism in its regular order and was dwelt on by elders F M dayton and hyrum christensen in convincing discourses at the afternoon session ol of sunday the hoy ghost was the subject for discussion cus sion and was spoken on by elders rupp simmons and croal and in the evening president kelsch took up the time aud and showed the gospel as it was taught by our lord and master many questions were asked at the close of every meeting by strangers and were answered by the elders to the satisfaction of those present friends from fond du lac came down to our meetings and also furnished us with beautiful fut music anich was very much appreciated by the brethren E tiers flers larsen and croft have led five hinesl souls into the true fold of christ and some lour four more hive have applied for baptism ism in anat with ith many more in vesil gators and aw they look forth for a good harvest in the lords own time we also have many investigating the doctrines doc tines of christ in this city and expect some good results in the near future our priesthood meeting was held monday in a large room at the hotel where we were staying which was kindly granted to us by the landlady for that purpose all of the brethren made their reports which were very satisfactory to fo our presidents our beloved president gave us many good and timely instructions which I 1 if carried out by the elders will be of great advantage to them one in particular was concerning our spending a greater portion of our time in the large cities it was thought that by adopting this rule much more good can be accomplished complis hed by first allying the prejudice in the cities and by doing this better work can be accomplished in shorter time these spiritual feasts are one thing the elders look forth to with joy but feel they do not last jonir ion enough the appointments are as follows oshkosh john kosk J and B S rupp Osh oshkosh wisconsin hyrum christensen and R M lynn waupun jphn john E boice and 1 W merrill eauclaire andrew larsen and E W croft fond du lac elder F M dayton having been out in the field some 26 months was honorably released to go to his home in dingle bar baar lake utah JOHN J president wisconsin conference B S RUPP clerk |
