hold held over the remains of prank frank robert Canning canningham bam son aon of william and sarah cunningham the deceased was born may 89 1883 and died december 81 31 1896 lie he died of inflammation of the bowels after a short sickness of about twenty four our hours services were held on sunday at 2 p n in in mendon meeting meetinghouse house and were presided over by bishop henry hughes there was a number of the brethren on the stand the speakers were elders eldera william adman john A kidman edward edwards W D cranney and bishop henry hughes who spoke of the faithfulness of the bereaved parents and family and ot of the goodness of the young boy that had just pawed passed away he would be missed in the ward and d by many people for he had a good word for everybody the grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren to follow her noble example she was approaching her ninety fifth ye arand two weeks before her death sha could read her bible without the use uee of 1897 bishop jonah evans of this ward died atter alter an illness of eighteen heart trouble and dropsy he passed peacefully away surrounded by numerous friends and relatives brother evans was born in carmar Jena hire south wales on the he of february 1888 1838 and was baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints isaac ol 01 evans april p li esth 1860 by his hia brother he was the son ion of john evans and esther eather williams on june the 2nd and 1863 1868 he with his wife and one wales wale for utah arriving in salt lake city october 1868 shortly after he mom moved to co brigham city where he continued to reside until may 1880 in the spring of 1880 he came to this lace and in october of the same flame year U E e was ordained and set apart bishop of the ward which position he hold held at his death brother evans was a kind father a loving husband and a faithful latter day saint firm in his hia religious convictions conviction and willing to endure anything for the gospels sake while in the agonies of death suffering excruciating pain he was wan never heard to complain it was while in this condition that one of his sons said to him father if you die come back if you oan can and lot let us know why you had to suffer so no my boy said he all flesh must suffer the savior had to suffer if ever man showed the world how to die he did he was not afraid to die he said it was nothing but a change and he asked the elders to pray for him that he may be relieved of his suffering fiering su by death he was conscious to the last A low few hours before he died a son was born to him when the child was presented to brother evans he be seemed pleased and said his name should be jonah eight sons and seven daughters survive him a wife three sons land and three daughters having preceded him to the spirit world the funeral services were held at the ward meeting house jan 1897 the president of the stake 0 C hoskins counselors wm win H gibbs and J M mo me carry amelia read bead bailey daughter of william and sarah read born at north crowley Bucking hamshire En glandon the 2nd and of october 1813 died in ogden city utah on the loth of 0 october 1896 at I 1 the 6 age of 83 almost without a moments moment I 1 a it notice she was buried from the second ward meeting house on october she W was married to henry bailey on the day of june 1833 and was the mother of ten children five Ave boys and five girls also the grandmother of forty two grandchildren and four great grandchildren she was baptized into the church of jesus christ of latter day saints by elder robert marten in 1846 at that time I 1 was commencing to travel and labor in the manchester conference and we made our home at new hills in derbyshire where I 1 raised up a branch in that town and represented them in the general conferences conference our home was always a home for the missionaries and she always felt to act as a mother to them and myself as a father the choir under the leadership of prof furnished sweet on the occasion of my dear cifes fu peral and the speakers referred to her in the highest praise as a kindhearted kind hearted wife and a true mother she died as dhe im anui born ook oct 1882 at hall hal 1 yo yorkshire t isbir eagland her parents humble but nonet honett industrious and faugal and under their exemplary xem plary instructions she grew up and emulated mu their virtues and learned to appreciate their value as an she adv advanced aneed la in life at an early age she embraced the gospel as an it has been revealed from heaven through the prophet joseph band hand she was ever afterwards faithful to its principles she made them the rule of her life while she sojourned sojourn ed in mortality she was highly respected in the community where she resided in december 1853 she with her family emigrated to the united states for a few months they settled in st louis mo on may she was married to daniel gamble elder john T hardy hard officiated the same year they crossed the plains en an route for Uta hand reached salt lake city in the tall in 1856 she came to ogden witcher with her husband and oon continued tinned to reside here hom until her demise on arriving here hex her husband found employment with bissop C W west and subsequently was W widely known as th the efficient flici ent drill master of the nauvoo legion in this goe section tico her kind hearted heartedness new and goner generosity won for sister gamble many firm aad lasting friends friend lL she was always willing to impart of her substance to the needy zi and took pleasure in administering to tee woo com comforts forta of the servants of god when ever their ministerial duties led them to 19 this place they ever met from hera her a warm welcome A number of times during the inclement seasons season she has arisen from her bed at night and given them shelter from the storms food and warm beds upon which to repose and I 1 take pleasure la in recording these facts many of which came under my observation the gospel of jesus christ was dower dearer to her than all earthly things and she joyfully joy lully pawed passed through tribu tribulation tation with her husband to honor and sustain the principles which the lord re revealed in 1858 she participated in theat the move scat south h with her co religionists and after peace was proclaimed op she returned to this city where hiis he resided the remainder of her life her hAim husband boUd had preceded her to the spirit world 12 years before after lingering line and severe but patient muffs r she
