Show WORK IN MONTANA r 7 REXBURG idaho july aist 1896 T A A brief account ot of our visit to montana may prove of some interest to Ad according cording to previous hiir readers ointments int ments elders T E ricks and bene E rich with a quartette of male voices voices consi consisting stin 9 of elders joseph S ada adams Ps charles I 1 durrans thomas evic eliott gt and C L french left the bannock stake of zion last saturday to assist elders edward stephenson and 4 M LV P cowley in their missionary labors which field is asat at present un I 1 in a montana der the care of this stake meetings were held at bu butte tte sunday afternoon and buo evening and at anaconda tuesday evening at butte sunday afternoon labont ut your tour hundred people assembled auditorium and heard brother atha e enson discourse upon the brlity or lity of the soul and oh man thou a and nd whence hast thou 11 come the audience paid strict at and manifested much interest J the venerable elders te marks H he was followed by joseph S adams rendering alering the favorite hymn oh my father in a beautiful manner at the close of this elder M F cowley spoke with nanch much power and spirit upon the am principles n cip I 1 e S of the gospel bro brother ther abw cowley ry has a style of oration peculiarly his hia own and he never fails to attract and hold his bis listeners his discourse sun day elicited much favorable comment aad at the close of the meeting many inquiries were made concerning our in the evening eing elder ben E rich occupied the attention of the eight hundred or more who had gathered and gavre gave them a most forcible and logical argument upon the truths ot of the gospel and the only gospel that was acceptable to god strict heed and interest were fiven hm him throughout and when copies of his book mr durant were loaned ito to thi the people at the close of the meeting the demand was much greater than toe the supply alter after the rendition by request of 01 01 my father by joseth jose joseph th S adams a lew jew remarks were ma mape 4 e by some of the tha other brethren and the meeting closed by the quartette and benediction at anaconda tuesday evening fully six hundred gathered at the lyceum old and were addressed by elders stephen son cowley and ricks and a quiet and attentive hearing were given throughout the singing at this place and at butte fairly astonished 1 the people some of them being of the pinion opinion that the mormon did not sing many words of praise were bestowed for forthe the music A good work is being done by elders stephenson and cowley and the aid g given iven them by the president of our S take stake elder ricks and by elder rich with the corps of singers from the sage brush plains of snake river valley is greatly appreciated appreciate ci by them there is a demand for elders in montana and missionaries will find a field ripe unto harvest A branch of about sixty members as we understand etwas it was to be organized at anaconda on the aoth dinst there is already one at lima of about forty and butte will soon be ready for a third so the good work goes on and the lord is spreading knowledge and light licht among the people every where the best of treatment was given give n and courtesy and hospitality were proverbial NOMAD noia D |
