Show JUNE 23, 1987 L, T. Taylors to be feted speaks Sunday Thorley E. and Ileen Taylor of Layton will be honored by their children in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married June 30, 1937, in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple later that same year. Thorley was born in Preston, Ida. on Feb. 21, 1911 to Joseph T. and Anna Eriksen Taylor. He owned and operated a roofing, siding and insulation business for eight years, was an insurance underwriter for 35 years and for the past 14 years has been employed by Syro Steel, in Centerville, as a security guard. Ileen was born in Layton on May 21, 1916 to Hyrum Gilbert and Telitha Simmons Talbot. She worked at the Ogden Arsenal, Clearfield Naval Supply Depot, and at Hill Air Force Base in Ogden. Elder Steffen is a high honor graduate of Davis High School, 1986, where he was involved with orchestra and several band programs. He served as drum major, president of the band, vice president of the orchestra and received the John Philip Sousa Award and Sempter Fi award while at Davis High. He is listed in Whos Who in Music, Whos Who in American High School students as well as Academic All American. He was elected president for the 1987-8- 8 school year. He is also an honor student. For his Eagle project, Bret organized volunteers to put in a sprinkling system for the Daughter of the Pioneers cabin behind the Rock Church in Farmington. During his scouting years Bret has received help 'and encouragement from many people. This support is very much appreciated. High, was nominated for this national award by Mr. Fisher, a counselor. Teresa Angell, daughter of Capt. Lynn and Peggy Angell of Hill AFB, got a $150 scholarship from the Utah chapter. Angell, of Davis High School, is ranked sixth in her class of 475 and has a 3.97 grade point average. She is also a National Honor Society and honor roll member.
