south street near fourth east for and on 00 the corner ot of fourth fast east and fifth south street facing south and west for committee on sites ELk DISTRICT BUILDING the committee on sites and reported that they had opened the bids for the erection of a four stor story y school building in the eleventh district the lowest bidder was A rief his bis bid being and the highest bidder T K lloyd whose bid was the commit committee toe in its report averred that abat the former according to allegations had been connected with the construe tion of a couple of buildings the arec tion of which could bardl hardly y be considered satisfactory the next lowest bid was that of W H jay for the latter offered bon bondsmen domen whom the committee considered good for at least which is the amount the boari board required the committee therefore recommended that the contract be awarded to mr jay mr alff a member of the committee brought in a minority report recommending om mending that the contract be awarded to mr rief A brief and unimportant discussion followed after which mr newman brought up the matter of whether or not the title of the lot in the eleventh district rests with the board it appears that the board of trustees of that district have not turned the title over to the board of education and an opinion of Attori attorney jey van cott showed a very uncertain certain ui school work reported arted that six maps of the united C states ates had been received from john T caine and the committee recommended that they be distributed among the six eighth grade soh schools adopted ONE IS ENOUGH the committee also reported that the night school 1 is becoming less largely attended and they recommend that the assistant teacher be dismissed as one ane teacher is now able to do all the work adopted the same committee reported that the first floor of the odd fellows temple on market street could be obtained for the use of the proposed school exhibit this hall to is a large and well lighted one and can be secured for one week for 25 there are now 60 in the hands of the D A M society but the may amount to something more and recommend that the board stand good for the same MOTION trustee pike moved that the committee on sites bites and buildings prepare an inventory blank and require the janitors of each school to furnish a full report of all property under their care ou on bond endorsed by the principal and file it with w ith the clerk of the board at the end of the school chool year and that the clerk of the board be authorized to withhold the pay of any janitor until such time as the report is furnished adopted FROM THE SAME GENTLEMAN the same gentleman also m aved 9 v act that the committee on school work be requested to at once formulate an inventory to be furnished by the auperin of schools to the principal of all the schools to make a full report of all school property in each room by name and return to the clerk of the board at the end of the school year and that no teacher be paid the last months pay until such report as ab well as all other reports required by the law shall have been furnished carried adjourned for one week |
