asked a s ked that the water mains be extended so that his resl deuce dence could be supplied with city water referred to the committee on waterworks water works A communication from whittemore busby enclosing a plat of geneva addition was referred to the committee on en streets william bayliss represented that he had been taxed for the exten sion aioo of water mates and mated ased that be refunded refund ed to him referred to the committee 0 on u waterworks water works julian sandberg sand berg and others protested against the extension of water works on fourth west docinda petit also 0 offered similar objections laid on the table to come up in their order dr groves and others protested against the extension of the water mains mainson on south between west temple and first west services rendered referred to the committee on claims C E presented a petition asking that the city approve of a tain plat of land in brighton ward on motion of mr mccornick the city recorder with the attorney associated was instructed to examine the matter and report on an the same uthe gotlie resolution granting a franchise to the salt lake fort douglas ballway my company along fourth west street came up on its third reading mr young moved that the title be amended to read I 1 john W young yoon and associates instead of lake fort douglas railway Rall way 11 mr riter was opposed to the change every franchise given lately had bad been granted to somebody and associates and the council never knew who the associates were if the council were dealing with corporations they knew what they were doing mr dooley thought it ir about time to cease granting franchises to paper corporations all over the city several others so do I 1 mr young wanted to know whether mr dooley donley meant mean to passed and was sent to the committee on oil enrollment mr dooley now th atthe question of h license ense is before the council I 1 would aou like to ask whether the national banks of this city have paid any license for this year the recorder no sir air mr dooley then I 1 would like to ask why the other banks should nt not also be exempt the recorder we tave collected from froin the national banks in the past this year however they object and say they should not have paid any since 1881 no 20 a bill for an ordinance amending section 19 chapter 31 of the revised ordinances introduced by
