| Show THE YOUNG YOUN G MENS conference THE announcement of the general of the young mens mutual iut improvement associations that a conference of that body will be held in the tabernacle this city on the 2nd and and 3rd ard of june is doubtless exceedingly gratifying to all who have at heart the welfare of the rising generation of tte tse latter laiter day sain sams s it will be the first really distinctive general gathering of that thai kind bind since the inauguration of the movement aad is there tore fore a new departure there have been assemblies of the same nature but they have mostly if not entirely been called while the general conference of the church has been in convention ven tion at such times especially upon shore notice it laas has not been practicable to deal with the questions and needs of at the movement with the special treatment which they deserve the business and general interests of bebiak beia paramount at such times has not admitted of concentrated atten attention tiou to tile the requirements of the young peoples pro progressive dessive institution beuce the proceedings have not boen been as distinctly individualized as might have been desired the isolation 01 the approaching conference from any other general ga gathering will give ill all the che opportunity the ahe occasion requires in that respect W understand that particular attention will be given to the subjects most appropriate for the associations to deai with und and views in relation to the best ineth methods to be adopted by the young people iu in thy the pursuit of useful knowledge will be elucidated in accord avita tins this idea it is intended to follow a bich will ably oe be tome korne time previous to the convening at 01 the cou terence the people everywhere should take an interest in this subject and while th the e gathering is mainly in the interests of the young for that thai very reason it touches the most vital interest of those who have arrived at the years of maturity it should therefore be attended by the people of all ages that the advanced in id years may be to hi a position to give the movement intelligent support rhe flie falness of attendance should not be confined to the sunday session but should cover the entire two days beginning at 10 on saturday june 24 we have no HO doubt that those who attend will be amply py repaid for doing so and we ilio also believe that the mutual improvement association will froni the approaching conference receive a new and pote potent impetus that will propel it forward on the path of progress wEs |
