Show THE THUNDERBIRD Saturday, Sept. 30 the Thunderbird golf team traveled to the Air Force Academy to compete in the 21 team Falcon Invitational and walked away with a tie for 14th place. "The scores weren't too impressive, because of our young team, but it was valuable for experience," said coach Tom -- 14. The altitude change seemed to have a negative effect on the team from Kingsford. Experience should be a deciding factor in helping them Nov. 4 when they travel to Las Vegas. Several tough schools attended the tournament as Wyoming walked away with first place spoils, and New Mexico and UNLV finished second and third respectively. 13-1- "It's a pretty impressive tournament," said Kingsford, who was happy with his young team's performance. The advantages of being a young team outweigh the mediocre finishes, he said. "We've been playing in this tournament for 10 years, and this is the best finish we've ever had."
