Espionage is a live game which is becoming popular among SUSC students. The game was developed as an offshoot from Steven Jacksons board game Killer and TSA's game Top Secret. The game has two opposing teams: the ISA, International Security Assemblage, working toward and the CCR, a communist terrorist group. Each organization has about 18 members, 15 of which are agents. This does not include the number of hit men hired by each team to assassinate team agents. The object of the game is to kill off the opposing team. This becomes difficult since a player that is role-playi- anti-terroris- assassinated is considered inactive for 10 days and then regains his or her original game playing position if the entire organization has not been terminated. Most of the assassinations are committed by the use of cap guns. Other weapons include bombs which are represented by water balloons that have to be broken to be considered active and poisons which are represented as flavoring put in drinks or food for the effect of poisoning. Currency has been printed for the game. Each team begins the game with $3,500 which is used for extortion, kidnapping or reenactment of dead player payments. The game begins by establishing two teams. Each team then collects $30 among the players to put toward a prize fund, the money is then given to the mediator for holding. The teams then exchange a list of the members names and addresses. The game then begins, each team organizing itself as it wishes. The teams are required to obey the rules of the game, the main one being not to break the law. They must also avoid committing crimes in the presence of others, such as in the civic building, in the police department or during church serivices. If there is a controversy about a rule it goes to the mediator to be resolved. If you are interested in playing Espionage for the ISA, address an envelope to General Delivery care of Devon Hill and put it in the SUSC campus mailbox stating in your letter your interest and an address or box number where you can be reached. You will then receive an application. Fill it out return it to the above address. If you are accepted you will then receive an identification card and.be told where to report. Kingston stresses quality and aesthetics in architecture by Daum DeBusk Architecture, Aesthetics, and the Nature of Things was the topic of the Convocation lecture by Ray Kingston, architect of the SUSC Centrum. Lana Johnson, Convocations Coordinator, opened the Thursday Convocation by saying, When I went to pick Ray Kingston up from the airport he said, To simply escape from the fog of Salt Lake City, come to the warmth of Southern Utah, and breathe the fresh air of Cedar City is a welcome in itself. The Kingston highly praised the Braithwaite Gallery as one of the finest in southern Utah, SUSC as an institution, and President Gerald Sherratt. This rich environment for learning and achievement has become the Hallmark of SUSC, he ' said. his Kingston spoke of acquaintance with. Sherratt who is frequently at the offices of j Fowler Ferguson Kingston Ruben Architects Inc to check on the progress of the Centrum. Ypu are fortunate to have captured Gerald Sherraft. If the students and faculty could keep up with President Sherratts energy, I am convinced that this! college would become the new University of Utafy The audience expressed its agreement with a loud applause. Kingston announced that March 10 would be rhe ground breaking of the Centrum. The building will be be ready for occupancy by September 15, 1985. I soft-spok- fit I t ff to throw bottles at the walls, Kingston said, adding that this will be done in style by using sparkling punch. Architecture is my first love, Kingston proclaimed, then, leaning against the podium he asked with a hint of humor, Is this being taped? Oh,, no, after my family it is my first love. Kingston defined architecture as a creation of shelter for human activity, and aesthetics as that pertaining to the sense of beauty. He concluded that architecture should embrace all aspects of art. Good architecture must be both functional and beautiful because it is the external stimuli which affects emotions. He philosophisized, Architectural space is a living theater, but should not be loud or distracting since it is a backdrop for human activity. Kingston stated that there are other factors relevant to architecture such as the psychology of colors, shapes and materials. He explained that each in its natural context has its own language. Kingston stressed the concept of honesty and morality in the architectural field. For example, he explained, plastic is taken out of its natural context and made to imitate expensive materials such as marble, aluminum, and wood grain. Tire manufacturers rob plastic of its original expressive nature and decrease the value of the products it cheaply imitates. will be there with you vn d Ray Kingston, architect for SVSCs Centrum, was the guest speaker at Thursdays Convocation, he told the audience the facility would be ready for occupancy by Sept. 15, 1985. long-awaite- tt!..!.?..
