Standard will be paid on the basis of Circular Five prices for ores sent to mill between July 1, 1960, and March 31, 1966. Mr. Bernick It will receive $8 a pound for concentrates produced from fWores from March 31, 1962, . to Dec. 31, 1966. Standard & Poors Closing 500 Stock Index Aug. 9 NEW YORK, The contract involves a gross amount estimated at more than $20 million dollars. The firms shares are listed on the American Stock Exchange. What we have is a milling agreement with Texas-Zinc- , Mr. McCormick told The Tribune. They will act as our agent in selling yellow cake (uranium concentrates) to the Atomic Energy Commission" which has approved the Standard-Texas-Zin- c contracts. Texas-Zinc- , in turn, will mill Standards ores at certain specified rates and equated to the grade of the ore. THIS CONTRACT WILL ENABLE us to ship bulk of our low grade between now and March 31, 1962, when higher prices are available. After that, it will .be advantageous to ship our high grade, Mr. McCormick said. This contract is as good as we could have gotten under the conditions imposed by the Atomic Energy Commiion and we consider it aSvantageous, in this light, to our stockholders, Mr. McCormick added. Contract Involves Amount of Produced Ore The contract Is directly involved with what amount of uranium the AEC is willing to have produced fromthe Big Buck Mine. The commission regulations provide that appropriate quantities of' concentrates will be purchased in the period from ores discovered prior to Nov. 24, 1958. Standard reportedly had an estimated five million pounds of contained uranium in reserves established prior to that date. It will thus have substantial reserves of ore available after end of the existing purchase program. The appropriate quantity as determined by the AEC in the case of the Standard Metals Co. Big Buck reserve was ' . 2,886,000 pounds of U308. 1962-196- ALLAN E. JONES, MANAGER of the Grand Junction Operations Office, told The Tribune that the agency had in no way promised to buy all of the concentrates which could be produced from reserves established in the USA prior to Nov. 24, 1958, date of a limitation on production. The appropriate quantity rule has been exercised in nearly all cases affecting major mines, he added. In some cases of smaller mines, the owners and operators may, in fact, be able to dispose of their entire reserve Before Dec. 31, 1966 the end of the domestic uranium purchase program under, existing regulation. Squeeze Out Small Producer Minerals Co. at Neill Banks, president of the Texas-ZinGrand Junction, Colo., announced that the contract with Standard Metals would not squeeze out the small, independent producers in areas tributary to the Mexican Hat mill pur contract provides that at least 50 per cent of our mills capacity be reserved for independent producers, he said. The new contract with Standard will in no way affect the market for independent producers tributary to our mill," Mr. Banks said. c Oil Inc. Plans Test in Uintah 3,400-fo- ES Cattle, 2,400.
