Bill Dames, an attorney with Weber County Legal Set vices, made the statement Thursday night in a meeting with the First District Juvenile Court Advisory Council. He said funding from the Office of Economic has Opportunity made it possible for juveniles to receive representation by Services Weber in Legal County. The same service is not offered in Davis County, however, and in most court proceedings children are not represented by an attorney. Four attorneys for Weber County Legal Services have done the bulk of defense work for children coming to court in Ogden, Dames said. In some cases, the defense was assumed contrary to the wishes of parents. In one case, several high school students were represented in a controversy with their school board over the length of their hair. As a result, Legal Services lost Umted Funds monies previously allocated. Parents had not wanted their children represented by legal counsel it was explained, and pressure was brought on the funding agency. Office of Economic Opportunity funding will probably terminate at the end of June, Dames told the ad isory council. At that time more restrictive rules will begin to govern services offered. 1974 STATE ROAD COMMISSION OF UTAH Dames said it appears the new law will contain some very restrictive provisions regarding juvenile court and student woiit tfl 2j) BLAINE J KAY Oirector of Highway ' NOTICE OB ALE IS HEREBY GIVEN the Board of Education ot Salt Loke Oty desires fo sell the following described properly known o the Onequa School site, SI NOTICE that He. said legal services will probably not be able to use federal funds for unemancipat-ejuveniles without parental Ugol sortn urn west Street, Cv So jenonf Lae Utah ond o'i pr overrent situated Thereon Conwrvc ng ot tn Sou'tvost &f corner of Let i Boc uKinspo s Subdivision, sod suba 90 vison being located in C fliot So!
