" o o 0 -- mj A Laketabernacle is filled to overflowing at June Conference. Priesthood MIA priests quorum under the bishop who is the president of the quorum. A priest group leader, called for each additional group, has stewardship for all young men of priest age. He works closely with the bishop, the AP MIA president (young men) and the priests adviser to give youth leadership to priests as they perform their duties. He represents priests in the ward Aaronic Priesthood council and the Bishops Youth Committee and serves as chairman of that body, under the direction of the bishop. He is also Explorer post president. He works closely with the Laurel president, other youth presidents, and adult advisers in giving youth leadership to planning and implementing AP MIA service projects and activities, and he delegates duties to assistants and makes assignments to other priests. Two young men, ordained to the office of priest, will be called by the bishop to serve as assistants to the priests group leader. They will counsel and assist the priests group leader in delegating youth leadership to priests and in working closely with the Laurel presidency, other youth presidencies, and adult advisers for planning and implementing service projects and activities. They perform other duties as assigned by the priests group leader, such as conducting appropriate . meetings. One young woman of Laurel age will be called by the bishopric to serve as president of the Laurel class. A president is called for each additional class. She has stewardship for all young women of Laurel age and works closely with the bishop and adult advisers to give outh leadership to Laurels in their AP MIA experiences, and represents Laurels in the Aaronic Priesthood Council and the Bishops Youth Committee, and serves as vice chairman of that body. When directed by the bishop and adult advisers, the priest group leader and the Laurel president conduct youth meetings such as presidency, committee, prayer and AP MIA, as well as socials and activities. The Laurel president works closely with the priests group leader and other youth presidencies, and adult advisers in giving youth leadership to planning and implementing Aaronic Priesthood service projects, and activities. She delegates duties to counselors and makes assignments to other Laurels. Two young women of Laurel age will be called by the bishopric to serve as counselors to the Laurel president. They are to counsel and assist her in giving youth leadership to the Laurels and in working closely with the priests group leaders ior planning and implementing service projects and activities. They perform duties as assigned by the Laurel president, such as conducting appropriate meetings. Similarly, a young man, ordained to the office of a teacher, and a young woman of Mia Maid age, a young man ordained to the office of a deacon, and a young woman of Beehive age, will all be called by the bishop- - -- be called by the bishop to serve as presidents of the AP MIA for for men and for young women. The bishopric,-quoruand class presidents, and the young mens and young womens AP, MIA presidents form the Ward Bishops Youth Committee. Three adult men, bearers of the priesthood, will be recommended by the young mens president and called by the bishop to be advisers t? priests, teachers and deacons. Three adult women will be recommended by the AP MIA young womens presidentand called by the bishop L be advisers to Laurel, MIA Maid, and Beehive girls. Two individuals, one young man and one young woman, will be recommended by the AP MIA presidents to serve as secretaries to the AP MIA. The ward Aaronic Priesthood Council includes the bishopric, the quorum and class presidents, and AP MIA presidents, the age group advisers and the secretaries. Other points of discussion were based upon questions such as the following: Will ward board meetings be held? What was formerly the ward board meeting is nQw called the Aaronic Priesthood MIA council meeting. Members of the bishops youth committee will meet with the. presidents and advisers, bishoprics and secretaries. Members of the AP MIA council may meet in any combination needed. For example, the priest group leader, MIA president (young men) and the three male advisers could meet together. The priests adviser and the Laurel adviser with Ibe presidents might have need to meet together. What lessons and manuals are we to use this coming year? The supplements, manuals, and visual aid kits listed on the 1973-7AP MIA order form are the supplies to be used during the 1973-7year. Will the new program stUI have dance and music festivals? Great programs of the past are and should continue to be part of the program. They should be encouraged and can still be used if there is a local desire and need. Festivals are encouraged when they meet the needs of the youth. i . 4 4 How are the small branches to carry out the pro gram effectively? The series of manuals entitled The Small MIA was written especially for the small branches. It will also be helpful if the Melchizedek Priesthood MIA and the Aaronic Priesthood MIA combine on occasions. Who has the responsibility for Interpreting the policies and standards of the Aaronic Priesthood MIA?
