County commissioners, however, prom ised only to consider uming over the lease of 200 acres of shore land to the state. They demurred on a request to give up the county owned Fiiscii Island, cui rtiitly under water. James D. Moyle, chairman of the State Division of Parks and Recreation, explained that the county's property sits squarely in me center of the proposed pai k Sci.oinnmont which would run along the shore from Biarkrock Beach to Old Saltair. Moyle said his office and the Salt Lake Area Chambei of Commerce will ask the Legislature in February for a large appropriation to develop the beach for tourists, and they want to be able to demonstrate that ail property involved is open for development. We dont want to give away the kitchen sink until we know what the kitchen sink is worth, responded Commissioner William E. Dunn, saying the county may give up the lease and the island only to discover it has lost potentially valuable real estate. ei , cuiuiuissiouei s uoiideu when Deputy County Atty. John C. Officials agreed to discuss the matter further before reaching a decision. State representatives said development of a park on the south shore would be a lucrative venture and popular with Utahns and tourists alike. One million visitors were counted at the lake last season, they said. Moy le said the top priority, if the park is developed, would be construction of sewer and water facilities, but added that we cant ask the Legislature to pay for that. Another official said those facilities, to cost $4 minion, might be funded using a grant from the Envuonmental Protection Agen- - Hundreds of thousands of choice, firm, healthy TOP SIZE.
