That engagement led to six months. It was a start." There was a pause while he ate his roast beef and some salad. Then he raised his fork and said: "Say, did you ever hear the one about the golfer and the priest? Well this golfer went to his priest and said, 'Could you tell me if there is a golf course in heaven?' "The priest said, 'I'll have to find out, but I'll get back to you later with the answer.' "The next day the golfer met the priest and the priest said, 'I have some good news and bad news. The good news is that there is a beautiful golf course in heaven. Manicured lawn, lovely view. The bad news is that you are due to tee off on that course at 7:30 in the morning." With that, Bob started a series of jokes. They came so rapidly, it was difficult to write all of them down, much less remember them. They came easily. Some were about Jimmy Carter: "I think Liberace will be Carter's vice presidential candidate. They have a smile in common." Or there was this: Did you hear the one about Carter's teeth uetting up two hours before he does?" Or this: "Carter has 32 reasons By Howard Pearson Deseret News television editor ; ) , 141 V i 4 A I.
