Land was donated for a building site; a surveying firm agreed to do all its work gratis. A local architect, impressed with the idea of a girls' home, sent no bill for his work. Students from the Granite School District and Utah Technical College were recruited to help with construction. "The girls' home really became a community project as well as ours," notes Mrs. Bjorklund. "Although we encountered problems, frustrations and disappointments along the way, the outpouring of public interest made it all seem worthwhile." Now the home with its living room, dining area, family room, counseling center, library, kitchen and four is ready to officially open bedrooms its doors. And an open house to introduce its program will be held Sunday, 6 p.m. The public is invited. Already, several girls have been participating in the program. (They have been sent either through the courts, by private agencies, through the Utah Division of Family Services, or via private referral.) "The members of the executive board of Utah Girls Village interviews each prospective resident," explains Mrs. Bjorklund. "We welcome any troubled girl runaways, teens who come from broken homes, those with behavioral and emotional problems.
