Nadia, an immigrant from Cairo, joined the Church in June, 1967, while working in Germany. Befoie moving to Canada to study at the Toronto University School of Medicine, she wrote her family in Cairo telling them about the Church. As a result of her letters, her mother, Mrs. Mounita Milad, and two brothers, Ragai and Osarna, decided to visit Nadia in Toronto and see about this new church she had joined. Their intent was to take her back to Egypt and their own religion. It was Nadias sincerest prayer that her loved ones might have the chance to hear and understand the Gospel. As soon as her family arrived in Toronto, July 14, 1970, she immediately made an appointment with the missionaries to teach her family. As the lady missionaries spoke in English, Nadia translated into Arabic. e and missionary presentation at the Michigan State Fair recently. For a month prior to the fair and for its y duration, missionaries from the Detroit and Dearborn stakes worked together to make the exhibit a success. In a foot tent, the team produced a presentation of the origin of the Book of Mormon. Actors, lights, music and color slides combined to make the production enjoyable and interesting to the public. Stake missionaries took care of the physcial arrangements while the missionaries did the acting and running of the slides, music and lights. The surprised shout into the telephone by the mission secretary of the North Mission was loud enough to turn the heads of everyone else in the room. Almost in unison they said incredulous- ly: Mom Cottle? Who did it? When did it happen? I didnt think I'd ever see the day! All the excitement was about old Ruth S. Cottle, better known in the mission as Mom Cottle, who has been landlady and mom to 79 missionaries in Winston- Salem for 10 years. All the "missionaries tried to bring her into the Church and 71-ye- ar and 79 succeeded. They were Elder Allen Jones of Pleasant Grove, Utah, and Elder Greg Hill of Salt Lake numbers 78 It all started when Mrs. Cottle advertised room for rent in January 1960. Two Mormon elders checked it out and Mrs. Cottle explained: There will be no drinking, gambling, and no lady friends. The elders explained that they were missionaries and that their budgets would not allow for the $65 she was asking.
