Isaksen has recently been sustained as second counselor to President Glen L. Rudd of the Florida Mission. Presi dent Isaksen was previously president of the Tallahassee District of the Florida Mission. A graduate of San Jose State College, Stanford University, and the Uniof Utah, versity Pres. Isaksen has . . . FSU professor held several administrative positions in both the Church and national educational units. Presently, he is a professor and acting head of the Department of Counselor Education at Florida State University, and was recently national president of American School Counselors Association. From 1953 to 1962, Pres. Isaksen served as a member of the Sunday School General Board. He has served as a bishop, branch and district president, and high councilor besides many other church positions. President Isaksen and his wife, Amy, ate the parents of ten children. . LAIE: Two Lads Swim 50 Miles Two Greg McGrath and Calvin Lowell, both of Laie, recently earned swim badges in the commutheir nity swimming program at the Church College of Hawaii pool. Calvin, son of College Athletic Director John C. Lowell, actually completed his 50 miles of swimming while he was still seven years old. These boys are among the youngest in the state to earn these awards. Gordon Watson, a member of the Santa Monica Third Ward, Santa Monica Stake, has been named executive director of the American Dental Assn., and will assume the top executive post of the organization January, 1970. Dr. Watson has been executive director of the Southern California Dental Assn. He will succeed Dr. Harold Ilillenbrand who has held the post for 22 years. Currently serving as an adviser to the priests quorum, he served as a missionary in the Western States Mission in 1940-4His eldest son, Paul, is now a missionary in the Eastern States Mission. Dr. Watson is a native of Rexburg, Idaho, a graduate of Ricks College, Brigham Young University, and the Northwestern University Dental School. He also studied at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business Administration. He has served as secretary of the San Diego County Dental Society, is a fellow of the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, as well as a fellow of the American Public Health Assn. He is a commander in the Naval Reserve, a member of the board of directors, Southern California Comprehensive Health Planning Assn. Other memberships include the American Society of Association Executives, the Southern California Society of Assn. Gordon Watson . . . named executive self-ma- l The program of swimming instructions for community youngsters was started by the Church College last spring to provide an opportunity for the young people of Laie to swim under the direction efofn experienced swimming coach. There 'are now 47 swimmers in the program ranging in age from seven to 12 years of age. To the uninitiated this program would seem like a "nice" way for the children to pass their time. In actuality their training makes the athletic departments varsity "Pain Barrier" conditioning program look like a rest cure. These junior size tadhours daily six days poles train a week and average over a mile each day. They often swim tw'O miles during a workout all in racing strokes. When the competitive season starts, they will work out four hours a day to train for the Junior Olympics next summw. 2 DENVER: Counselor CARACAS: Elders In Denver So. Stake Open Mission Center Floyd Moulton, former bishop of Bartlesville Ward in Oklahoma, was sustained recently as second counselor to Pres. Boyd L. Hansen in the Denver South State Pres-denc- Establishment of a "Museo Mormon" (Mormon Museum) in the city of Medellin, Colombia, has opened a new path for Mormon missionary work. Pies. Stephen Brower of the Colombia-Venezuel- a Mission urged the missionaires in Medellin to try something new and effective in preaching the Gospel. They made it a matter of prayer and were inspired to open a museum. After two months of planning, the elders in Medellin rented a vacant store in the heart of the city and established their mu- y. Pres. Moulton served in youth programs of the Church before moving to Denver in 1963. He received his MS degree at th BYU in Geology. seum missionary center. During the first week, 3,500 people passed through the museums doors and went on a quick but informative tour explaining the Church. Many were astonished to know that God had restored His church and wanted to know more. The missionaries gleaned the names of 1,500 persons who asked for additional information during their first visit.
