FJ Editor Student Life: In order to fill a requirement for Communications 101 (as is the case with this letter) I attended one of several mass meetings held Monday night I must say I was pleasantly sur- prised It wasn’t painful at all nor very time consuming and much more interesting than most professors lectures which a few of us attend every day I would encourage everyone to try it sometime or to get involved with any of the many activities involving politics Larry Bunnell 528-70-65- 89 Neglected nucleus Editor Student Life: I am a student here at USU and at the beginning of the year I was fortunate enough to have been introduced to the Special Olympics Program we have here on campus After meeting many of the people working under this program and the “Special” people participating in the program I became interested in volunteer work Unfortunately because of athletics many of my Saturdays were not free for volunteer work therefore I was more of a part-tim- e volunteer the of course the year Through I have read many articles pertaining to the Special Olympics Program and have heard and read of praise toward numerous people such as Doug Oldroyd Dar Krumble and others affiliated with the program I’m sure they deserve the praise which they have received However I cannot understand how or why one of the most (if not the most) dedicated and hardworking volunteers has never received any praise for the many many hours she has spent into making the “Bridgerland Special Olympics” such a worthy and successful program I have worked with and watched Janet Carrara plan write up and conduct programs which took many hours of preparation I have seen her promoting and searching for volunteers from behind a booth in the UC basement I have helped her paint posters call parents plan trips and think up events forthe special people to participate in and above all I have watched her win the love of all the special people to whom she has given part of her time to make this world a happier place to live in All this I have seen her do and I have not even spent of h the time she has dedicated and sacrificed for the Special Olympics Program I am sure Janet is not looking for praise for she is a unique and wonderful person To me Janet has been the “neglected nucleus” of the Special Olympics Program and I feel she should receive the recognition and praise which she deserves Janet Louis keep up the good work!
