T HE ANNUAL Salt Lake Tribune Summertime Snapshot Contest for 1964 is four weeks old this week and that means that the first of the three monthly color contests announces winners. In addition, of course, the fourth set of weekly winners also is now on the record. Judges, who carefully inspected hundreds of color transparencies came up with the three shown reproduced in winners black and white on thedppo-sit- e page. They reported that only three awards were made as the quality of entries in Class B, Teen or Adult Activities, was insufficient to warrant an award. 1 i I T For those wishing to get into the contest with their transparencies, there is plenty of time to enter the two remaining contests. Deadline for the next one is July 15, and for the final one, Aug. 12. Color winners will be announced Jor these two on July 26 and Aug. 23. FOR BLACK and white snapshots, the regular weekly procedure will be followed with winners every week until Aug. 23. Each winner in the color division gets $10 and each in the black and white category gets $5. At the close of the contest, all the judges will black and white and color winners and from them will select a total four in each division of eight and these will each receive a 325 grand prize. In addition, the eight grand prize winners will be entered in the Newspaper National Snapshot Awards to compete with entries from some 100 newspapers from the United States and Canada for a prize total of $32,000. The national winner in each of the eight categories will receive $1,000 plus a trip for two to Washington, D.C., to receive the award. Second-plac- e winners each will be awarded $500, third places each get $250, and there are-maother special mention and merit awards, seating down to $25 for every entrant. Complete rules have been published several times in Home the last previous Magazine came last week and will be published at least twice more during the contest. Read the rules, and then get in on the fun and excitement of the Summertime Snapshot Contest. You may be one of the big winners this year. THE CONTEST is for amateurs only and you may enter as many snapshots and as many times as you wish. Just make sure that your name, address and picture classification is on the back of each black and white entry and on the frame of each color transparency. Color prints are not eligible for the contest No black and white pictures can be returned, but every effort will be made to return color entries if they are accompanied by ! I I I l a stamped, I enve- lope. One more requirement needs emphasizing. If your snapshot should win a local grand prize and be selected to enter the national contest, it must be accompanied by a release from each person in the snapshot, otherwise it cannot be entered. But if the person or persons in your photograph are strangers who are likely to be far away when the grand, prize winners are selected, better get a release from them at the time of taking the picture, and then hold on to it Now for the winners.
