They would like to plant 100 trees on Arbor Day, April 26th. The trees will be planted at the Payson City Park and the Payson Cemetery. Patrice Davis gave the thought for the day. Elizabeth Huish gave the Legislative Report. She stated that Ted Stewart of the Department of Natural Resources talked on the importance of saving our forests and protecting our wilderness areas. Patrice Davis introduced Dick Ruble, Dr. Dalton, and technician Natalie Evans from Mountain View Hospital. Mr. Ruble introduced the program on osteoporosis in women. He told of the new program that has been started at the hospital under his supervision. This program is new to this area, being the only one in Utah. Dr. Wright explained the causes of the disease and the new medication, Foxamus, that has just been approved by the FDA. Dr. Wright stated that osteoporosis affects women more than men because of the loss of hormones after menopause. This disease is the loss of bone density in the body. Miss Evans discussed the procedure in detecting the disease. of the hips is required and then, if needed, medication is given. Medicare and supplement insurances will pay for most of the cost.
