Show Over 2,000 At Green Sheet School - Area Cooks 1 KEARNS. A crowd that nearly overflowed Kearns highs spacious auditorium received tips on cooking here Thursday night as the Green Sheet presented its second annual Cooking School. Fewer than 200 empty seats were counted in the auditorium which seats 2,250 as Cheryl Rupp and Robert Hooton offered informa-tio- ranging n from microwave to conventional and outdoor cooking. A host of prizes o- ffered through the generosity of Green Sheet advertisers were given away throughout the evening, with winners of five major prizes representing four Green Sheet area communities. Granger residents went home with 10 prizes, followed by Kearnsites with eight. The remainder were spread across the valley from Magna to Holla-day- , and included a girl who won the microwave oven. Onstage, Mrs. Rupp demonstrated cooking of Stuffed Mushrooms Italiano, Zucchini Italiano, Oriental Steak, Coconut Pie, Stuffed Peppers and Ginger Orange Chicken and provided a number of insights on use of the microwave, including cooking of corn on the cob. Officials at Kearns high said the crowd was the largest to use the schools auditorium, excepting those that annually attend graduation rites. The winner of the microwave oven donated jointly and the parent of seven youngsters said the appliance would be well used. Kathy Allen, 6253 Sternwood Dr., Ben-niowon the gas grill donated by the same five merchants, who also donated a range that was claimed by Barbara Tucker, 3769 So. 4310 West, Granger. Brenda Lauber, 4068 Acord Way, Granger, took home a color television set supplied by John Paras. Winning an electric dryer provided by Brin-to- n Electric was Dionne Givens, 1432 W. An additional 20 homemakers took home grocery bags filled to the brim with various items, donated by Dans Foods and a number of prizes were given away in an early bird drawing that was held at the programs beginning. Bob Prince served as master of ceremonies for the affair, while the event was coordinated by Carolyn Liedtke, promotion director. Bill Olson is in charge of the display advertising corps. Ethel Bradford was in charge of preparing the recipe tabloid presented to all who attended. A limited number of the tabloids are still available at the Green Sheet offices, containing recipes that were prepared on stage, as well as others.
