Show THE VALLEY VIEW NEWS Thursday, October 10, 1963 Page 7 GIRL SCOUT NEWS First edition copies of the new Girl Scout Handbooks published September 9 will be presented to members of the Salt Lake County Commission at a special ceremony at the City and County Building at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 11, Girl Scout Headquarters has announced. Mrs. Murray M. Moler, President of the Council, explained that sets of the handbook are being presented to County Commissioners in 18 countries where girls participate in Girl Scouting. Our purpose in presenting the handbooks is to get them into the Libraries so that interested citizens may have an opportunity to see and use them, Mrs. Moler said. The new handbooks are designed to implement the new Girl 'Scout which went into effect program, in September. Now Brownie Girl Scout program, which went into effect in September. Now Brownie Girl Scouts are the 7 and 8 year olds, Junior Girl' Scouts are the 9, 10, and 11 year olds. Cadet Girl Scouts are the 12, 13 and 14 year olds, and Senior Girl Scouts are 15, 16 and 17. Each presentation will be made by Girl Scouts in the County. Making the Salt Lake County presentation will be Brownie Girl Scout Patricia Nash of Troop 487, Junior Girl Scout Christine Nash of Troop 661, both daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Nash, 1423 Dupont; Cadet Girl Scout, Irene McGinn, daughter of Mrs. Ina D. McGinn, 1059 McFarland; and Senior Scout Jean Steiger, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Steiger, 1040 Prosperity. The adults accompanying the girls will include Mrs. Wayne Rider, 325 East 3360 South, chairman of District 5 in Salt Lake City, and Mrs. Donald K. Nash, a troop leader. four-age-lev- el Western Hills PTA News . Over Heard On October 8, a Neighborhood meeting was held at the home of Mrs. Virginia Gardner. Forms for ordering calendars were issued to each leader. A reminder was given to leaders to be sure to return the forms to the Council Office by Oct. 15. Troop 387 has set up three patrols and we find Kay Nebe-keassisted by Colleen ODris-col- , are to lead the patrol called Stars. The Snappy Fours have Patty Geertson and Linda Cot-tre- l in charge, and the Sunset Patrol is led by Judy Mansell and Sally LeRew. LuAnn Sender has been chosen treasurer and Shawna Richens, scribe. The troop enjoyed a meeting on roller skates last week and it was such a success the girls hope to do it again in the near future. Troop 180 has chosen their Patrol names and leaders. Julie Allred tops the list with the Bowsers, the Fairies find Jolene Merz in charge, Cynthia Cox leads the Promises, and Mary Lavie, the Bluebirds.
