The party will be for Legion members and guests, and will cost 50c per person. An Apron and Overall Dance will be sponsored by the Legion for Legionaires, wives and friends on 'July 20 at 9 p.m. at the Post Home. Music will be furnished by the Rhythmn Valley Boys, and a midnight snack will be served. Reservations for this event may be made by calling Vern Wall, CY or tickets may be purchased at the Post Home. 3 Month Old Tracy Barton Found Strangled Three-month-ol- d Tracy Barton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barton, 3981 W. 3100 South, was found strangled to death in the folds of a silk blanket early Sunday morning. 'According to Deput Sheriff Don Weston, he was called to the home of Mr. Barton and assisted him in attempts to revive the child. The Salt Lake County Fire Department ambulance crewmen rushed the child to the General Hospital where she was pronounced dead on Thursday, July 11, 1963 Kearns Jaycee News Jaycees Choose Float Theme Kearns Jaycees announce that the theme for their Miss Kearns float is Strings of Beauty covering the progress of music during the century. The theme of the Days of 47 Parade is Century of Progress. Riding the float will be Carol Lynn Casebolt (Miss Kearns) and her attendants, Gaylia Christensen and Karon Andrews. 'Sherry Hiatt and Nancy Acord, who were among the finalists in the Miss Kearns Contest, will also grace the float. Keith Moore is float chairman for the Kearns Jaycees, with Dave Rodrigues in charge of design. Cec Otte is director over the project. ' e Operation in Full Swing are operating Kearns Jaycee-ette- s e the machine each Saturday at the Kearns Shopping Center. Part of the proceeds will be used to support a hungry child in a foreign country for one year. The e Jaycees will operate two machines on Main Street, across the street from Sears, during the Days of 47 Parade to earn money for community projects. Chaplain Presents Detention Home Services Chaplain Dave Rodrigues of Kearns presented a program at the 'Salt Lake County Detention Home on Sunday, July 7th. Aiding him at the piano was Steve Nelson, 17, and Judy Romero, 14. Wayne Romero, 12, sang several solos, and spiritual numbers were sung by Dave and Delores Rodrigues. Judy Romero is blind; an accomplished pianist, she learns her music by means of the Braille system and by listening to the recordings of popular and classical artists. 25 boys and girls at the Detention Home enjoyed the program. Rodrigues plans to present the same group of entertainers at the religious services of the Utah Jaycee Quarterly Conference, to be held on August 11 at the Prudential Federal Building. They will also perform on July 20th at the Jaycee Youth Conference in Provo. Jaycee Newspaper On Stands The first issue of the new Calabash (Kearns Jaycee News) for 1963-6- 4 has been published and sent to all members of the Kearns Jaycees and to leading Utah State Jaycees. The paper, under the general editorship of Dave Rodrigues, will continue to be sent to three Jaycee clubs in the Hawaiian Islands in the Hands Across the Sea exchange set up by last years president, Ed Castillo. Membership Meeting Tonight A membership meeting of the Kearns Jaycees will be held tonight, July l'lth, at Midwest Realty, 8 p.m. Kearns Jaycees to Visit Neighbors Representatives of the Kearns Jaycees plan visits to neighboring Jaycee clubs in Granger and Draper. Granger will be asked to appoint a Chaplain, and general aid will be proffered to Draper, which club was chartered by the Kearns Jaycees. Draper Jaycees welcome Kearns floats for entry in their -parade on July 24th.
