She is worried about the traffic on the street, but she said it could be managed. She is also worried that Westminster might use the building for dormitories, which she said would be a big, fat no way. She said she would accept administrative offices and classes. The Institute offers free admission to art exhibits to the community, and showcases many artists work, but a concern for another neighbor is the loss of art in the community when Westminster moves in. Mariel Balzoth grew up in the neighborhood surrounding the Institute and feels it is something the community needs. She enjoys having the Institute down the street from her house and viewing the exhibits. One of her main concerns is community involvement. With the institute, I know the community will be welcome to view exhibits and also be a part of them, but with Westminster I am not so sure, said Balzoth. Balzoth is nervous what Westminster might do and she would rather have the Institute stay right where they are, but she knows that Westminster has already bought the building so she would like to see the Institute be incorporated in to Westminster. I would like the art department moved over here with the Institute incorporated. I would like to see Westminster involve the community, community is a big thing around here, said Balzoth. The Institute also put in a bid for the Garfield School, but according to Robertson, Salt Lake City officials felt Westminster was best for preserving the historical nature of the building. Robertson said he hopes Westminster will see the benefits the Institute can bring to the art department. We are not asking for a one-wa- y benefit them keeping us.
