Fortunately Ive always been lucky enough to have people who are willing to mentor, to teach, to help. Ive been given and taken advantage of several opportunities in my time at Westminster. Ive been able to work with some amazing people from entrepreneurs to colleagues. I have talked, worked and learned with incredible people. From alumni to faculty to staff to students, I truly believe I have been given an amazing opportunity to grow as a person. Theres an idea in philosophical and scientific thought that everything exists in equal opposition to each other. For example there can only be as much forward motion as backward motion when the same amount of force is exerted on an object. This is a lesson I remind myself of when Im in a new and difficult situation. I realize I do not always have the best reaction and I must rely on different sources than I am familiar with to know what to do, but regardless of what happens I can only move as far backward as I am willing to stretch myself forward. Perhaps now is the time to do as Twain suggests, So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
