Photo S-- A Drama unit presents three scholarships Three students have been awarded scholarships by Community Theatre to attend the College of Eastern Utah. These were given to Ricky Gilbert, Shanna Semken and Trudy Skerl by Jessie Holdaway, Community Theatre president, in behalf of the drama unit. The Elmo G. Geary Memorial scholarship was awarded to Ricky Gilbert, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gilbert of Helper. Ricky is a sophomore major in theatre arts at CEU. Last year he performed in The Time of Your and Desire Under the Life, Elms. One was given to Shanna Semken, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Semken, Jr. of Imperial Beach, Calif., formerly of Price. Shanna is a sophomore at CEU. She attended Southwestern College at Chula Vista last year and this Glenda Ferron 384-233- Mr. and Mrs. Brad Jensen were surprised with a visit from their daughter Mrs. Bruce (Mary Dea Powell) who drove from Las Vegas to spend a few days with them. Sunday the Jensens took her to Salt Lake City where she boarded a plane for Sweden where she will join her husband who plays in a musical group. The Powells will be in Sweden for one year. There are several people from here in the hospital at Price. Among them are Mrs. Olivia Mrs. Maggie Fugate and Joe Jensen. Mrs. Amy Waymon has returned home after spending two weeks visiting at the home of her son Mr. and Mrs. Loydell Waymon and family in Salt Lake City. Recent guests at the home of Eldonna Ralph were her daughter the Frank Engand lish family of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Wanda Jenkins will teach an art class at the Community Center at Castle Dale. All interested are urged to contact Mrs. Jenkins. This class will be for beginners as well as those who have already painted. The class is scheduled to begin the first of the year. Steven Snow returned this week from the Veterans Hospital. He had to undergo surgery on his Dug-mor- son-in-la- t : . 9 knee. Dick Swasey is home from the Navy on furlough. He visited in Ferron with his fiancee. Miss Brotherson during the home and family is particularly valued at Christmas. He will report back to San Diego, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wareham and Mr. and Mrs. Gardell Snow attended the bull sale at Elko. Nev., during the weekend. Santa Claus has sent word that he will arrive in Ferron Tuesday evening the 23rd. He would like all of his friends to meet him at the Ward Cultural Hall at 7:30. He regrets that he cannot make his schedule right at 7:30 so he has arranged for a special pro- gram to be presented by the Primary children to which he extends a special invitation for all families to attend. A special teachers training class has just been completed. This is the first time anything like this has been done in the Ferron Ward. Under the direction cf Mary K. Davis, eight people will receive certificates of graduation from this course. They are Don Childs, Darrell Price, Clifford Snow, Stephen Snow, Marjie Jones, Verna Francis, Tcnette Thomas and Florena Berensen. Another class is being planned for the first of the year.
