Every, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Every of Hiawatha, has received a letter of commendation Page for performing outstanding duties with the electrical crew aboard the USS Mt. McKinley off the coast of Vietnam. The duty for which he received the commendation was performed between May 3 and July 30, 1969, while his ship was engaged in combat operations. Follcking is the text of the letter accompanying the resolution. The letter bears the signatures cf John M. Garr, chairman; Janet B. Prazen, vice chairman; B. H. Young, secretary, and Robert D. The committee was advised that it was your prompt and sage action that prevented dismantling of the camp, for which we are certainly grateful. The Central Committee feels that the greatest need in this ccur.ty, as well as the rest cf the state, is vocational training. As you know, the Castle Valley Job Corps Camp was initially designed as a vocational training center, and we feel the camp could and should be utilized in this manner. Such use would be less expensive and certainly more effective than seme alternate proposals. Therefore, by a motion passed with a unanimous vote cf the Carbon County Democratic Committee, the enclosed resolution is being sent for your perusal and consideration. We wish to thank you for your devoted concern and interest in this matter and respectfully urge ycu to give full consideration to utilizing the Castle Valley Job Corps Camp as a vocational training center.
