Show SOCIAL ITEMS Womans J NEWS OE CLUBS Club Sees Civil Defense Film An interesting film on civil de- fense titled Operation Grandpa was presented for the members of Price Womens club at a meeting held in the club room Thursday, April 4. Literature concerning this subject was left for the ladies to read. Musical numbers 6n the program included a medley of tunes played by Marjorie Redd and Joan Bitts on the piano and two vocal numbers, "Memories are Made of This and "Aint She Sweet, by Kenneth Pierce, who , accompanied himself on the steel guitar. Iverne Wallace read a letter announcing that Fern Marshall had been selected as the candidate from the eastern Utah district for the Teachers Oscar and Mar- VTAH AFRICAN VIOLET SLATES SHOW The African Violet Society of Utah, Chapter One, will hold its fourth annual show in the South Salt Lake Auditorium, 24 9 9 South State, Salt Lake City, April 20 and 21. The public is invited to view the show Saturday, April 20, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday the doors will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. "Beautiful violets will depict the theme 'African Violets in SOCIETY the Easter Parade , announced the president, Mrs. Clay M. Robin- son of Sandy. Hundreds of specimen plants with new varieties and artistic arrangements will be displayed. Entries will be for club members only. Awards from the National African Violet Society will be presented to the winners. There will be a leaf and plant sale. Show chairman, Mrs. Norman Ray of Murray, announced there will be many door prizes given the two days. YOUNG MISS HAS BIRTHDAY Miss Kathy Bryner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Bryner, celebrated her .ninth birthday with a gay party at her home Monday, April 8. Barbecued hamburgers and cake and ice cream furnished the birthday fare and bingo with prizes drawn from a gay Easter basket provided the fun. Each lady received an individual Easter basket filled with goodies as a favor.
