In addition to a reduction of the fectiveness of fluoridation in renumber of children afflicted with tooth decay, there is also a sharp reduction in the extent of decay in afflicted children. One of the most interesting benefits from fluoridation involves the treatment by dentists of teeth that have already become decayed. Teeth are decaying at a rate much faster than dentists can possibly treat them. With a fluoridation program and the resultant reduction in tooth decay, dentists will better be able to keep up with treatment of teeth that require dental treatment.
