They decided to distribute them through the State Health agencies. The free patches are available as part of a comprehensive community based smoking cessation program, lasting 6 weeks. Kay L. Mclff will replace Robert D. Hales, who asked that he not be reappointed to another six-yeterm. Mclff is the current chairman of the board of trustees for Southern Utah University. Governor Mike Leavitt chose Mclff because of his diverse experience and exposure to a lot of different institutions around the state, according to Vicki Varela, spokeswoman for the governor. . Mclff earned his undergraduate degree in political science from Utah State University, and while there won a leadership award and was political editor of the student newspaper. Mary Franz, Owner of Cedar Creek Restaurant, Salina This week is a little different have a male cook for a change. We Wilbur Mullen, of Salina, is noted for his game cooking. Maybe you have some game in your freezer that you can use to try these recipes. Wilbur works at the Salina Turkey Plant where he is a refrigeration engineer responsible for the maintenance of all the refrigeration units at the plant He was brought up in Oregon, where his father was a sportsman who instilled a love of hunting and fishing in Wilbur. When asked, he says he learned to cook out of desperation since he is single, but when questioned further he admits being interested in cooking since he was a young child. He could cook peach and cherry pies when he was 7 Wilbur Mullen years old. He learned to cook game His and fish from his father. receipe for elk was from his father. Fishing is Wilburs favorite activity, besides dancing. To men who are interested in learning to cook, he advises that practice makes perfect. He is planning a fishing trip to Alaska this summer, but his favorite place to fish is the left fork of the Huntington River, where he fishes for German Brown Trout and Rainbows. Wilbur feels one of his greatest accomplishments has been surviving the last deer and elk hunt. He says he must have walked 100 miles, but got a deer and elk. His recipe for elk also works well with venison. I hope youll try these. They are easy and sound very tasty. Fried Elk steaks 2 cups flour 2 lb. of 12 inch thick elk or deer steaks 2 Tbs Lawrys seasoning salt 1 Tbs. onion salt 1 Tbs. garlic salt 1 onion, 14 cup oilmargarine 2 Tbs. pepper chopped in Mix the dry ingredients a plastic bag and add the steaks. Shake until well coated. Heat the oil in teflon frying pan until hot. Then add steaks and minutes. fry over medium heat. When browned add onion and cook 15-2- 0 Add 2 Tbs water, cover pan and cook 5 to 10 minutes. Serve with fried potatoes. Fried Trout 1 1 cup flour cup yellow com meal 1 Tbs black Tbs onion salt pepper egg 1 1 6 lemon wedges egg 34 cup milk tsp. garlic salt Cut the head, tail and fins off the trout and split in half along the backbone. Mix egg and milk and dip the fish in it. Mix dry ingredients in a plastic bag. Put fish in bag and shake well until coated. Return the coated fish to milk ai M egg mix then coat for a second time. Put 14 inch of oil in a teflon frying pan and heat until a drop of water sizzles when dropped in. Put in the fish and lower heat to medium. Cook about 10 minutes on each side. Squeeze lemon over fish when done or leave it to each persons taste. 6 average size trout 1 1 Wild Duck Stroganoff 1 2 Mallard ducks (2-- 3 lbs each) cup flour 1 1 Tbs salt tsp. pepper 1 tsp. salt Lawrys seasoning 14 cup (12 stick) margarine 2 cans cream of mushroom soup 1 pkg. ( 1 lb) wide egg noddles - cooked 34 cup water 1 small carton sour cream. Filet off the duck breasts and cut across the grain in 12 inch slices i cube into 12 inch cubes. Mix dry ingredients in a plastic bag and coat thv meat well. Brown in margarine. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes on low heat. Pour off fat and add soup and water. Stir well. Cover and cook on low for 20 minutes. Add sour cream and heat (dont boil). Serve over the noodles. Wilbur says this is especially good with asparagus.
