On Monday evening they enjoyed a barbecue with Beth and Delile Sorensen, Neldon and Thelma Jensen and Rhea and Gail Alder coming to join them. Donna Vee and Leland Sorenson hosted a birthday dinner in honor of Donna Vees mother Veda Jensens birthday on June 17. Donna Vees sister Beverly Markos of Ogden, Elaine Safran of Salt Lake and Doris Caldwell and her grandson Jason of California were here to help celebrate. Rilla Dee Sorenson and her sis- -: ter LaelThalman and son Bryce of Sigurd traveled to Pine Top, Ari- -' zona Thursday to attend a family Reunion held at the Motel Lodge of their sister Suzanne and David Nichols. Fifty four family members gathered to enjoy the 2 12 day get together. Kerry, Todd, Mark, Jennifer, Alex and Andrew Sorenson and Janalee and Scott Burbank and Greg, Angie and Becky were other members of Rilla Dees family who attended this reunion of her brothers and sisters and families held every other year. Jay and Stella Lee Jensen have three of their grandchildren visiting them this week. Rhett, Brittney and Brinadette Frandsen children of their son Randy Frandsen of California. On Sunday they had all of their daughters and their fam ilies visit for Fathers Day and all of their grandchildren spent the night with grandpa and grandma. Rex and LaPreal Olsen attended the wedding ceremony of their granddaughter Terilyn Stevenson and Dave Vincent at the Manti Temple Saturday. Afterwards they attended a dinner in Provo in their honor and a reception in Orem in the evening. : - Carrie and Les Edwards and son Ashley and Gayle and Ron Ball and family were out on Sunday to help Rex celebrate on Fathers day. Steve and Patti Sorenson and Kel, Cole and Cami of Kanosh were here Sunday to enjoy Fathers Day Dinner with Leland and Donna Vee Sorenson. Donna Vees mother Jerold and Billie Lou Johnson spent Monday and Tuesday, June 14, 15, in Logan, where Jerold attended Trade Tech school meetings. They brought Melva Johnson home from Tremonton where she had been visiting with her sister, Virgie Anderson, for two weeks. We would like to welcome into our community Neal and Cindy Walser and their children Steven, 13, Johnny, 11, Tammy, 10, and Tonya, 8. The family has recently moved here from NOrth Carolina. Mrs. DOn E. Neilson attended the wedding reception for Teri Lyn Stevenson and David J. Vincent on June 19 at the Cherry Hill 5 th Ward, in Orem. The couple was married earlier in die day in the Manti Temple. Mr. and Mrs. Roger Mason and family, of Tucson, AZ are visiting his parents, Lawrence and Evelyn Mason. Vem and Elda Freeman of Mesa, AZ have been visiting their son, Kent and Marlis Freeman and family, and Blaine and Amy CUrtis Veda Jensen was also down from Mayfield Manor to spend the day with them. Tammie Sittre and Shane Ivie were here from St. George to attend the wedding of Tammies cousin Brenda Hoffman of SaltLake. Reed and Donna Sue Sorenson and Kim and Crystal attended the wedding along with Keith and Leah Bird and Edith Sorenson. Raymond and Ryan Newman, Kirby Bertelson, Sara and Christian Sanders, Maghan Mecham, Joe Cowley, Ernest Newkirk, Darann Sorenson and Young Mens President Jim Sanders were the speakers for Sacrament meeting reporting on Youth Conference. July 20 - 23 The award winning Intrigue of the Past" workshop, by the Utah Museum of Natural History, Bureau of Land Management and State office of Education will be held at Sevier Valley Applied Technical College (SVATC), in Richfield on July 20, 21, from 89:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day A field trip to Colorado City, Utah is set for Thursday and Friday, July 22, 23. There was a very large Sacrament meeting Sunday. These relatives and friends and many others came to honor Gary Bartholomew at his Missionary Farewell. They all enjoyed a dinner after meeting. Saturday night, Keith and Scott Bartholomew and their families joined the group and enjoyed a barbecue dinner. Sunday the Lyttles left four of their boys with John and Kathleen for a weeks vacation. These family members also attended the mission farewell and dinner for Gary. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Harrop visited last T uesday and Wednesday in Ogden with Mr. and Mrs. Don Stockers and Mrs. Royal Harrop. Visiting Friday night and Saturday with the Harrops were Dave and Kandy Mead and son of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Brent Mellor and .family vacationed last week over through Colorado and Nebraska, and up through the Black Hills of North Dakota, and saw Mt. Rushmore and other interesting sights. They trav- eled through Wyoming on their way home. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Bolinder of Grantsville, were overnight guests at the home of their parents Darrell and Maxine Bolinder, and took their son Steven home with them. Mrs. Izolla Bartholomew enjoyed Fathers Day dinner with her brother Mr. and Mrs. Kirt Sorensen, in Centerfield. Milton and Ruby Hammond held their family reunion over the fathers day weekend at their home. Their daughter Vivian and husband Marion Tree and family attended, from Mapleton. Their son, Robert and wife, Carolyn Hammond and daughter, Tiffany , of Salmon, Idaho, and Roberts son, Jeff and his wife Sandra, of Arizona, also attended, along with their son Stacy and wife, Michelle. It is a special outing for Handicapped children and their families which has been going on for about 1 1 years. It was for Marsha and all her family. Then on Sunday, they all visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kiesel for Fathers $3 Scffnedlude Ruby Hammond 4 Candace and Kathy Kiesel, of Red- Barbecue Dinner s Kids Games Ss More - 7300 : 529-358- granddaughters, Amy , witnessed the arrival on the 17th of the largest steam locomotive in the world, i.e., the largest currently in use. They had heard on the radio as they were driving toward SaltLake City that it would arrive about 3 p.m. at the Union Pacific depot They pulled into the parking lot just as the mammoth locomotive arrived pulling 17 cars. The train was on its way from Portland to Cheyenne, which is its home base. Of course, it was belching steam and blowing smoke and making the kind of noises so enjoyed by the kids of the Ottleys generation. One of the most exciting aspects of the train was one of the cars labeled: City of Salina. Wouldnt you know it? The Ottleys had forgotten their camera! Duaine Anderson, son of Miles and Donna ANderson participated in the Summer Games in Salina, winning a bronze medal in the Trap Shoot. This past week he participated in the summer games in Cedar City and won a gold medal in the Trap ShooL Congratulations to you Duaine. Spending some time at die Paul Willardson home has been their two children, Lloyd and Debra Willardson. Dale (Skeeter) Peterson is home now recuperating from a heart attack. Glad to have you back. Burt Jensen and Sharon Hales are home now, both of them have had surgery recently and both are doing much better. Visiting with Udell and Jean Johnson on Saturday was Jeans son, Larry and Sharon Nelson and children. Sunday visitors at the Johnson home was Valerie and Terry Hansen and children. They spent Saturday evening with Terrys mother, Meryl Hansen. Sarah Jensen, daughter of Brent and Mary Lee Jensen and Trisha Johnson, daughter of Gordon and Tammy Johnson spent a week in Cedar City attending Girls State. The girls learned so much about the way the government works and also had the pleasure of meeting other girls from around the state. Jeremy Hampton, son of Keith and Patsy Hampton and Jason Bosshardt son of Neal and Marcia Bosshardt attended a week in Logan, where they participated in Boys State. They also learned about the government and participated in many activities with boys from all over the state of Utah. The Blazer Scouts attended an overnight Fish Lake District camp out. With their advisors, Bonnie and Randy Andreason and other fathers, the boys brought home two second place awards and one third place award. Returning to Redmond after spending a week in California has been Ray and Gayla Farrington and daughters, Kent Johnson and son Clint, and some of Sandra and Jeralds children. They all enjoyed the different sights there had had a great time. Here to help their father Kendyl Wilkins celebrate Fathers Day were Cami and Kerri Wilkins. Released from the Relief So-- 1 ciety this past week were Sue St Pierre and Louise Jensen. Sustained were June Bosshardt and Linda Kiesel. Dont forget to come to Redmond Monday, June 28, 7 p.m. and be entertained by a 40 member troupe from Aurora Colorado. They will be doing a Melodrama, western songs and dances. Everyone is invited and the admission is free. It will be held in theRedmond Ward Cultural Hall. Amelda Poulsen has had company this week. Kathleen and Dennis Jensen visited her. They were returning to their home in Heber after spending some time in Denver with Amelda s son Gaylen. Also visiting Amelda was her granddaughter, Diana and Don Jacobson and their six children. They had a nice dinner to celebrate fathers day and also Ameldas birthday before returning to their homes. Amelda just returned from spending four days in Orem with LaRue and Rick Taylor. She attended the Golden Wedding anniversary party held for Ricks parents, and she was also able to become acquainted with some greatgrandchildren she had never seen before. Spending some time with the grandparents, Burt and Sandra Jensen were Brenda and Clayton Carters two sons. Congratulations to Duaine and Roene Shaw on the birth of their new baby son. The little mister is welcomed home by two older sisters, TannaandLori. Roenes parents are here to help out for a while. Betty Williams to receive RMA of Year award Betty J. Williams, West Valley City, will receive the RMA of the Year Award from the American Medical Technologists, a national certification agency for medical lab, medical assisting, and other allied health professionals. The award is given in honor of her professional achievements and outstanding contributions and service to AMT at all levels. Certified by AMT in 1986, Williams quickly organized the Utah RMA Association and served as president until taking on the presidency of the newly unified AMT State Society. She has served on numerous state and national committees. Bettys husband. Max, is from Salina. His mother is Ema liams, of Salina. He has a brother, Clyde, and a sister, Rae Ann Woolsey, both in Salina; a brother Burke, in Redmond. Her father, the late Dale W. Beemus, was from the Gunnison area. She and Max have celebrated 23 years of marriage. Betty continues her dedication and outreach as she recovers from lumbar spinal fusions and the recent tragic death of her youngest son. & |
