Two male quartets and the Sweet Adelines will appear in the final concert of the season. Mrs. Gaia Christensen, presiold musical dent of the organization is pleased to have kept the promise made by the board and its auxiliary to help bring song to the three county area. The board met this week to choose concerts for next season. Barbara Julander, Elsinore is to serve as president of the Guild ty 15-ye- ar Auxiliary, replacing Thelma Compton, founder of both the Guild and the Auxiliary. She serves on (r both boards. The organizations work together to bring programs of interest and variety, hopefully to inspire and entertain audiences, to help newcomers and youth learn the beauty of sound and action in the live form, and to help promote the advancement of artists and those interested in learning in the field of arts. The upcoming program is May 5, at 8 p.m. in the Richfield Tabernacle. Tickets at the door are $5 for adults, and $4 youth (8 - 17). Everyone is encouraged to attend this final concert of the season. Trudi Hyatt will Trudi Hyatt, age 18, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gene V. Hyatt has been selected to compete in the Utah Miss T.E.E.N. (Teens Encouraging Excellence Nationally) Pageant to be held at the Mariott Hotel in Downtown Salt Lake City on July 5,6 and 7. The Miss Teen Scholarship Pageant honors and recognizes girls 13 to 18 years of age for their achievements, personally, scholastically and civically Trudi Hyatt and other young ladies from the state who will participate in the Pageant are required to participate in the Volunteer Service Program. This past year, Miss Teen Contestants, because of the volunteer service requirement, have donated over 600,000 hours of service across the country to many volunteer and civic organizations. Contestants will be judged on Scholastic Achievement, Volunteer Service, Talent or Speech, Personal Interview and Formal Presentation. Trudi is currently attending Snow College in Ephraim where she is majoring in Archetectual Drafting j - , IN Trudi Hyatt and Design. She will also graduate from Gunnison Valley High School with her class in May 1990. Her hobbies are singing, dancing, horse back riding, skiing, hiking and jogging. Free eye, foot, blood pressure clinic A free eye, foot and blood pressure screening program for people who have diabetes will be held May 12 from 9:30 to Noon at the Mt. Pleasant National Guard Armory, in a joint sponsorship of the Utah Dept, of Health, Sanpete Valley Hospital, American Diabetes Association and National Society to Prevent Blindness. People with diabetes are particularly prone to vision and foot problems, and nearly all of the estimated 47,000 diabetics in Utah will eventually experience some degree of eye and foot damage, said Cynthia Godsey director of the Utah Diabetes Control Program. Treatment can save the vision of more than 60 of the afflicted population. Annual eye and foot exams are strongly encouraged for those with diabetes. This screening is an attempt to offer a free service for those who have not seen qualified professionals. Each high school NHS chapter could nominate two senior students based on their leadership, scholastic achievement, character and service. Nominees submitted a form outlining their participation in school organizations, clubs, academic accomplishments, employment experience and community service. Bogh has demonstrated outstanding ability in her academic work and service to her school and community, said Dr. Timothy J. Dyer, executive director, NASSP. Shes a fine example of outstanding calibre of young people in Americas high schools. While at Gunnison High School, Bogh has been student body publicity manger, president of the National Honor Society, Sterling Scholar nominee, yearbook editor, coeditor, and layout editor.
