Show r 7 The SunNews. Wed.. May 17. 1989 Salina News Redmond News Tammy Johnson Relief Society held their homemaking day Tuesday. A lesson was given and mini classes were held. A luncheon was held after and a nursery was provided. The wedding march was the sound heard Tuesday evening in the ReliefSocietyRoom. Tammy Hales and Cameron Jensen stood in front of their peers while Bishop Lee Jensen started the wedding ceremony. It was reviewed just before the I dos were said by Gary and Lisa Learning who then gave the Young Men and Young Women a talk on the importance of Temple Marriage. Wedding refreshments were held in the Cultural hall afterward. The Relief Society held its board meeting Tuesday evening. The Sr. Citizens held a social thursday evening at the Redmond Ward. They enjoyed dinner an a program. Ella Lee Lund held her piano recital Thursday evening in the Legion Hall. 18 students performed for parents and friends. Mothers day weekend always brings many family members back to Redmond to pat tribute to their mothers. Lloyd Willardson was here over the weekend visiting with his family, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Willardson. Jan and Tim Eversole and 2 children were here visiting with Milo and JUne Bosshardt and also to conduct some business. Congratulations to Lyle and Sherrie Coates on the birth of their first child, a son. Redmond has been growing the last couple of weeks. Albert and Alexandria Gomez are the parents of a new son. The little Mister was bom in the Gunnison Hospital. He is welcomed home by an older brother Albert Visiting with Rulon and Betty Miller over the weekend was their daughter Bonnie. They made a stop at coach Jill Porters home to show her the trophy and also award her the plaque for lA Coach of the Year. The girls track team broke 4 State Records Saturday. The girls mothers were invited as special guests. Mary Ann Hatch gave a talk introducing the new bodes and explaining how the girls can gain from using them. JoLynn Mason gave a tribute to mothers and Vicki and Jessica Barney sang a lovely mother-daughtson. Shower games were played and delicious refreshment were served. Connie Hansen took ten area exchange students to Southern California, recently. They did the whole tourist tour. Highlights included, Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm and the Universal STudios Tour. Tyler Colby, 5 year old son of Michael and Rosalie Colby, is in Primary Childrens Hospital for an operation. Were all pulling for him and know he will be home and on the go before too long. The Aurora 1st Ward Young women decorated cakes to give their mothers at a special activity on Wednesday evening. The Priest quorum from Aurora 1st Ward went out to Maple Grove for a chicken fry and lots of fun. More congratulations to the North Sevier Track Teams. Larry W. Cox, of Manti, was honored for a Black Bear he took in Utah, scoring 22-5- 1 6 points. Cox, who won in the Modern Firearm-Handgu- n category received the award at the Associations April 28 meeting in St. Louis, Missouri. In the spring of 1987, Cox and his guide, Mike Young, a friend with home he had gone to school, decided to hunt in Sanpete county. They tracked bear for two weeks, working the canyons with hounds - hunting for 12 to 15 hours per day, in temperatures ranging up to 85 degrees. Twice they ran the bear, but it would not get treed. The third Grant 'Skid' Marx Grant J. (Skid) Marx, died 4 of May 1989 of Cancer in Gunnison. Johnson Pearl Hunter Davis Johnson of Fayette, Utah died in Salt Lake 85 City May 4, 1989. She was bom on July 22, 1903 in Lake Shore, Utah to Richard Rodrick and Annie Edwards Hunter. She married Vernon Leonard Davis June 6, 1921 with a Temple Sealing in the Manti Temple on May 8, 1975. He died on March 24, 1953. She married Wesley LeRoy Johnson on September 26, 1958. Pearl was an active LDS Member serving in many Church Positions. She is survived by her husband and 3 daughters, Mrs. Jay (Ellen) Christensen, Mrs. LaRae McNiel and Mrs. Marian Walker all of Salt Lake City and son LaVell Brown of Provo, 15 grandchildren 44 great Grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Monday May 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the Fayette Ward Chapel with burial in the Spanish Fork Cemetery directed by the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home. SERSEflil Arley G. He was bom October 2, 1899 on a farm near Van Buren, Kentucky, to Joseph Seth and Eliza Frances McGaughey Nation. He lived m that area until about 1903, then moved to Terre Haute, Indiana, and lived there until his 1908 when his mother died. He then lived in Kentucky with his father until 1914. He attended local one-rooschools, and worked at a variety of farm and jj The Vision Quest Wagontrain made its annual ride through this area last week. The group travels by mule and wagon and camps each night along the route. Members are juveniles who have been in trouble. The trouble accelerated, as three boys, ages 14, 16, and 17, stole three of the mules, then tied them to a post in a homeowners yard, allegedly stole his car and headed out. The car has been found in Cedar City, but so far, according to the Sevier County Sheriff's Depratment, the boys have not been found. VISION QUEST : community jobs. In 1918 he enlisted in the Navy, and during the final years of World War I he made three Atlantic crossings before being discharged in September of 1921 . Burial was in the Gunnison City Cemetery, under the direction of Springer-Turne- r Mortuary. |
