I I 1 I Volume 67 Number 1 Wednesday, March V Price 35 Cents 15, 1989 City Offices to be closed on Fridays, as of Apr. m Salina City offices will change from a five day week, to a four day week as of April 1, 1989. The action was approved in the March 6 meeting of the Salina City Council. It was noted that the women working for the City now have 4 day weeks, however, they have been staggered so that the offices can be open the full five day work week. However, beginning April 1, the offices will be closed on Fridays. They will be open Monday -Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. In other City Council action: Rep. Tom Christensen, is leading an effort to rebus service through store north-sout- h Sevier and Sanpete counties. Christensen asked for the the Salina City Council at of support its March 6 meeting. Mayor Grant Stubbs reported on the Community Development Business Grant, and said that Salina should get about $8,000 to $10,000. He said the city should apply for more funding. Corrections Officers are wanted According to Kent Larson, Ephraim Job Service, the State Correctional Department is accepting applications for 35 candidates to work as correction officers. If they can come up with 35 qualified candidates, the academy will be offering a special session in July to train these canidates. They will be hired after graduation to work at the Prison in Draper until the Gunnison site is ready for operation, estimated approximatley one year. They will guantee transfer to Gunnison. It is an avantage to us as local people because we will have 35 trained guards from our own area when the prison opens, stated Kent Larson.
