UDOT reports best route As many as 120,000 people are expected to travel to Manti this month for the 18th annual Mormon Miracle Pageant, so the Utah Department of Transportation is anxio9us to help them get there by the shortest route possible. Last months flooding weakened the supports under the Sanpitch River Bridge on US 89 south of Sterling. As a result, US 89 has been closed between Sterling and Gunnison. The best route for those planning to drive to Manti from the south, is north on US 89 to the junction with state road 137. The junction is between Centerfield and Gunnison in Sanpete County. Turn right on to State Road 137 and drive east to Mayfield. In Mayfield the road goes north and runs into US 89 beyond the damaged bridge. It is a detour of only about three miles, and signs are being installed to assist motorists in following the correct route. Hie pageant will be held July 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21.
