Coach Ron Wolff said after that Box Elder's finish was in dispute. A check of points showed the Bees to have 136, placing it ahead of John F. Kennedy. Were Pleased We were very pleased over the performance of our wrestling team. We wrestled well for being so inexperienced and meeting this caliber of competition early in December. Rock Springs and Grand Junction are as good as any team well face this season, definitely better than us at this time. Our combined record against them was four wins and 15 losses, Coach Wolff stated. We were pleased with the success we experienced on our feet as well as our total number of points. Any time you win 11 medals, the team is working well. If we can turn this into a unifying, learning experience, we could progress into a pretty good wrestling team. We were especially happy with the progress of Todd Williams, Steve Kap, Keith Sayama and Bert Stanger. The latter three are proving themselves capable of being good varsity wrestlers. Jerry Jenson totally overpowered the field at 155 pounds. Although we were disappointed by not winning the third-plac- e team tropy, every wrestler on the team scored at least four team points. We hope we can improve fast enough to be competitive with our tough December schedule, the mat mentor stated. Coach Wolff was obviously disappointed with the Layton loss. But his comments after gave credit to his wrestlers. Im as proud of this group of kids as any Ive ever coached. We got a total effort from everyone. We must simply get better, the coach stated. The loss was one of the few suffered by Box Elder in recent years. It gave evidence that this years club has some ground to gain to reach the high plateau established in prevous seasons.
