Baseball fans Wanda and her husband Joe, who is employed by Brigham Implement, are avid baseball fans and keep up on the players in major leagues. They used to attend all the Ogden Reds" games and followed the young men who played on that farm team and went on to Cincinnatti. Someday they want to attend the World Series. They also like to camp in their pickup and camper, but Wanda no longer drives since having trouble with her right leg after surgery. That event did mean a new hobby for her, however, for she took up quilting and enjoys it greatly. One year she made a quilt for each niece and nephew on their birthday, but hasnt counted up how many she has made through the years. Wanda and Joe live alone now that their two daughters are married. Daughter JoAnn Nielson lives in Bountiful with her husband and three little girls, and daughter Susan Lerch lives in Nebraska with her husband and little girl and baby son. They travelled to Nebraska to see the new baby, their first grandson, this fall. Joe is originally from Nebraska, so they have other relatives there too. Since Perry is Wandas home town (she was a Nelson) there are lots of nieces and nephews about town and Wanda is their substitute grandma" since their real grandmother passed away. Shes also the surviving oldest in a large family, so there are plenty of family events for her to provide with traditional sweet treats like her peanut bars and krunchy goodies. That is the case with Wanda Sebek in Perry, who not only likes to cook for her family but also likes to be out in the community assisting others. Wanda cooked in the school lunch program at Perry school for 12 years. She missed the children so much when she quit that she is now a volunteer at the bookmobile so that she can keep in touch with the youngsters. And die keeps in touch with the adults by serving as city voting registration agent, and with the women as she makes her rounds as a Relief Society visiting teacher.
