Show t I ) BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, November 24, 1977 Tithing house gets new role: drive-i- n The historic tithing house in Willard has taken a new, quite, different role as it continues to serve the community. This past summer, the familiar brick structure became a fast foods drive-in- . The tithing house was built somewhere around but 1900, 1 1 had not been used for its original purpose for some time. Its only use since being relinquished by the LDS church was as a small commercial laundry. Early this past spring, Tom and Joan Christensen acquired the building from Jack and Shirley Kolts. The Christensens plans were to realize a lifelong dream of creating a family restaurant business and fulfill a need within the small community. When it came time to give the drive-i- n a name, Tom says his seven children came up with Mr. Cs. (He admits they were thinking about Mr. C on Happy Days, but the name fit anyway, and so it was settled.) A vestry-typ- e front has been added, with emphasis placed on preserving the old brick front d (each brick was hand-sande- before sealing) and original structure. The new front provides seating for year-roun- d use, and the west window of the old tithing house is now the order counter. A north window serves as a drive-u- p window, and a patio on the south will provide outdoor summertime seating. The dusty old corner was paved with asphalt as the project proceeded, to provide cleanliness and a whole new look. Its been a lot of work getting the new enterprise ready for business, but also a lot Corinne shows his steer Sam and the blue ribbon he won at this year's county fair. Sam also won the carcass judging contest. Clay is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Carter. CLAY CARTER of of fun," Tom says. Having a common family project like this has created even more family unity than existed before. The family goal is to provide good things to eat. We will always be open for new, suggestions, Christensen stated. A grand opening is planned for the weekend of Nov. and the drive-i- n will be open Monday through Saturday. 25-2- 6 Corinne steer wins BE carcass judging Clay Carter son of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Carter of West Corinne took his prize winning Sam to the fair this year. Sam, a Limousine and Black Angus crossbreed, won first prize out of 120 steers in the carcass judging contest. The contest was held after the live judging at the county fair. Dr. Norris Stenquist of USU did fhe judging. Sams breeders, Les and Del-wi- n Mills, also of West Corinne, were happy at the animals winning ways. But not as much, as Clay Carter, who won $75. David Christiansens steer took third place. His breeder was Miles Cap Ferry. steer Building Fires Principal causes of building fires in the United States are, in The seven minor accidents investigated by Brigham City police between noon and about 4 p.m. Monday as the first snow storm of the year struck.
