The Bears were in continual motion. Shooting, ball handling, running. There cant be much doubt to their condition. What could take its toll is lack of size and experience in the close games. The answer is that they were way ahead of mankind in solving energy problems. When a goose flies, its wings churn up the air, leaving behind an air current. In the flying wedge or V, each bird is in the right position to get a lift from the current left by the bird ahead of him. This makes less work for all the geese in the formation but the leader, and that is why several geese may take turns leading the flights during a migration. Its a place to refuel the outboard motor, get hot coffee, and ask questions of other anglers and the dock operator. An example of the odd, but useful, kinds of information youll find at fishing docks was boards fishing experts. During a visit to a southern , impoundment they learned that fish caught and released suffer injuries that will inhibit their feeding for several days. This was the observation of a fishing dock operator who likes to keep several bass on live display. When he catches a large bass he puts it in his bait holding tank for several days. He noticed that freshly caught fish all suffered discoloration of the lips where they had been hooked. Apparently a massive bruise, this condition lasts three to four days.
