Show ( BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, June 1 6, 1 977 age to tell her domineering husband to go fly a kite. In the end, they and their four children learn a valuable lesson about what life in America are really all about. However, this is not accomplished until Gary Christensen as Mr. Stripe nearly has his way, leading them down a path that brings unhappiness. And how do you tell a person who plays the adversary to the forces of good that he was great in the part and still make it come out sounding as a compliment? Well, he was and it is intended as a definite rating for his performance if not to suggest a similarity with his character in real life. Ralph Raisor as The General, dressed in white and contending with Mr. Stripe, is less colorful and more subdued. It provides a sharp contrast, the same kind which life seems to offer as god contends with evil, the latter often more attractive, more appealing. Curtain time is 8 p.m. in the Box Elder High school auditorium. It was our pleasure to sit through an early rehearsal while waiting to take pictures recently and also to be on hand last Saturday evening for a dress rehearsal at the high school. We were impressed. The play began its regular run Wednesday evening. Its a production of the four local area LDS stakes. And it carries a message that finds it roots in the churchs Book of Mormon. But still, the thrust of the message will strike a harmonious chord in the minds and hearts of most who value the family and who cherish this land of America. Wed recommend it as well worth the $1 donation suggested for tickets. The music is haunting. And the play itself bridges the gap from rolicking humor to pathos. Tot Workman as the father of the typical American family is a smash. His conviction that men are clearly superior to women and that America means apple pie and football games, helps carry the show along on a note of levity easily understood by the audience. Workmans better half?? in the play, Janet Williams, is a wide-eye- d Edith Bunker type who finally builds up the cour N.
