Felt cut the ribbon officially opening the new Vesco's Sport Center at 1100 South Main. The business is having a grand opening celebration Friday and Saturday with motorcycle movies, refreshments and balloons for the kids. Vesco's open new center and features more space, more service and a larger line of goods. The owners will celebrate a grand opening Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. both days. There will be drawings for prizes and kids will get free balloons. From 6 to 10 p.m. each night will be shown motorcycle films. Refreshments will also be available. Aaron Snow was taken to the Brigham City Community hospital last week for injuries he received in an accident. He is to be transfered to the hospital in Ogden this week. We certainly send to him wishes. very rapid Mrs. Merle Perry was also hospitalized in Brigham last week and has since been taken is the hospital with pneumonia. We send to Brandon special get well wishes also. A family dinner was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.Aldous Weight this past Sunday. The occasion was a birthday dinner for Pats mother, Mrs. Beatrice Johnson of Preston, Idaho. There were 30 family members present. Our sincerest sympathy is sent to the Earl Young family at this time. Evas sister, Velda Adams, passed awa on Sun- day. Funeral services were conducted on Thursday at the Rogers Mortuary in Tremonton. IN YEARS AGO TEN PERRY Feb. 23. 1967. Congratulations go to a group of young men who represented the Perry ward in the recent church basketball tournament. The senior team, coached by Jay Mathews, set an outstanding record with winning 17 games and losing one. They were able to emerge as the first place winners of the South Box Elder stake. They also were first place winners in the region and also in District 14. They went on to place second in Zone 12. Trophies were presented to Jay Mathews and team members; Greg Young, Robert Williams, Richard Wight, Dean Oyler, Dennis Olyer, Craig Hansen, Richard Thorne, Reese White, Vern Wilkins and Brent Thorne. Decorations for the dance was under the direction of the priest and Laurel classes with the Mark Adams and Brian Weight were each awarded their Eagle scout badge, with a very impressive Eagle ceremony conducted by Dale Johnston, second counselor in the ward bishopric. The Eagle charge was given by Von Curtis, district chairman. There were three Life Scout advancements, Kevin Young-berBruce Hirschi and Kelly Dinsdale. Todd Maddox, Brett Adams and Gordon Hedrick were presented with First class ranks; Mike Kilburn and Rod Hemkin received second class advancements. to the hospital in Ogden. For handicapped .fwWlFiiivr Plea issued for sponsors The Ladies of the Elks of Brigham City, laboring through a request of the United Cere- bral Palsy association, are organizing a local effort in Brigham City to sponsor handicapped athletes in the 1977 Utah Special Olympics. All organizations have been contacted by mail in the city explaining the program and asking them to sponsor a handicapped athlete, according non-prof- it to Ginny Danieu and Sunny Ketner.
