Beth teaches at Box Elder High school and Boyd is at the Intermountain school. Beth is a graduate of Ben Lomond High school in Ogden and also attended Weber State college. She graduated from Utah State university majoring in home economics. She taught at the Intermountain school for three years. She smiled reminiscing, It was while I was teaching at the Intermountain school that the students in my classes and the students in Boyds classes managed to get Boyd and me together and as the students suspected and hoped we fell in love and were married. Beth interrupted her teaching career to become the mother of three children, Michael who is now ten years of age, Julie who is 7 and little Lisa who is in first grade. This is my first year to be back in the class room since Michael was born she said. I had a hard time making up my mind, but I am thoroughly enjoying my classes. I have about 120 students in my cooking classes. We are experimenting with foods and meats, etc. I also have a family relations class where we discuss improving personalities, how to bridge the generation gap between students and their pardfits and we discuss dating, engagements and offer suggestions for successful marriages. I also have classes for students in sewing. At present we are making blouses and slacks. Adult Classes Beth has also taught adult classes in cake decorating, mens sportwear and drapery. I found Beth loves to make and decorate cakes, however she limits her talent for personal friends and close relatives. In 1972 Beth was president of the Utah State Young Homemakers. She has also been the advisor in the Brigham City chapter. She has served as a teacher in Mutual, a counselor in the Relief Society presidency and is presently president of APYW. She is a member of the Ladies Community club where she served as president. I like to plan the main foods for our meals in advance she commented. Then its not at all difficult to prepare side dishes to compliment the main dish. Enjoy Camping As a family they enjoy sport activities and camping. Beth is interested in sewing for herself and her family. When I was first Laughingly Beth admitted, married I remember cooking rice. CHERRY COCOANUT BARS Heat oven to 350 degrees. With hands mix the following ingredients until smooth. 1 c. sifted flour, 3 T. powdered sugar, y2 c. butter. Press with fingers into buttered 8 or Sl2 sq. baking pan. Bake 10 to 15 min. or until lightly browned. Do not overbake. Mix the following ingredients into 2 very slightly beaten eggs. 1 c. sugar, y4 c. sifted flour, l2 tsp. b.p., 1 c. chopped nuts, tsp. vanilla, y4 tsp. salt, y2 c. cocoanut, y2 c. maraschino cherries (cut up) Remove pastry from oven and spread with the above mixture while still hot. Bake 15 to 20 min. Cool and cut into bars. BANANA CREAM PIE y2 c. sugar, one-thir- d tsp. salt, 2 T. cornstarch, y4 c. flour, c. milk, 2 egg yolks, 2j 34 T. butter, 1 tsp. vanilla. Mix dry ingredients in a saucepan. Slowly stir in milk. Boil 1 min. Stir in a little of hot mixture into egg yolk. Boil 1 min. more. Blend in butter and vanilla. Pour in pie crust.
